[HOT] Nigerian roads

2016-01-27 Thread Daniel Specht
On the projects for road network in Nigeria, how many roads are needed to
be valid? I've been mapping enough roads that every village is connected,
but others have been mapping fewer.

Re: [HOT] HOT Summit 2016

2016-01-27 Thread Celina Agaton
Hi Mikel,

We're co-organizing the 7th International Conference of Crisis Mappers on
September 28-October 1 this year in Manila.
After the conference, we have community mapping events and activities
planned across the country to reflect different hazards and conflict areas
in urban and rural areas.

We're currently talking to SOTM Asia on programming since many of our
Philippine projects use OSM and we have the capacity to host 500 attendees.

We'll also have scholarships and heavily discounted tickets to help local,
regional and international disaster and conflict affected communities can
attend the conference.

Happy to chat more!

Re: [HOT] Sharing imagery for a mapathon/task - simple alternative to TMS?

2016-01-27 Thread Jean-Guilhem Cailton
Yes Nick, I agree this is the best solution, at least to try first.

(I hadn't thought about mapwarper, nor seen the other answers before
sending mine).

My offer still holds if you run into problems. (I was planning of doing
roughly the equivalent of what you are going to do with mapwarper,
between JOSM and QGIS, to get the georeferencing into the image files,
and then to set them up in a WMS/TMS server, which mapwarper should do
fine).

All the best,

Jean-Guilhem

Re: [HOT] OSM Nicaragua's Transit Map Project blog post and their next challenge

2016-01-27 Thread Felix Delattre
Hello,

we just finished the print design for the first proper transportation
map of Managua: http://support.mapanica.net/

There are only four days left until our crowd-funding initiative is over
(31 of January) and we are only $1500 short from reaching our goal.

Please consider supporting us now and get rewarded with your paper map
or cool T-shirt with Managua's public transport map build out of
OpenStreetMap data and collected by people that want to make a change in
their community by the use of Free Technologies.

We also appreciate any help spreading this message to your friends and
over social media.

Thank you!
Regards,
Felix

There's a lot of interest in holding another HOT Summit 2016.
Last year's first Summit was excellent http://summit.hotosm.org/

Thinking is to hold the Summit in the days before or after
State of the Map in Brussels http://2016.stateofthemap.org/.

I'm on the SotM Working Group along with fellow HOT Member Ben
Abelshausen, and there's definite interest.

Regional events like SotM US and SotM Asia, both still in the
bidding phases, are possibly interested in having HOT gatherings.

If you'd like to start getting organized, get in touch with
and we'll work out a time for a working group meeting.
