[HOT] Untagged Buildings created by JOSM

2018-03-30 Thread john whelan
I'm seeing a number of these. If you are using JOSM to map square
buildings please use the building_tool plugin. If you're running a
mapathon and notice mappers are using JOSM perhaps give them a nudge if
they aren't using teh building_tool plugin.

Thanks John

Re: [HOT] HOT mapathon in schools

2018-03-30 Thread Rupert Allan
We've started Teaching OSM in refugee hosting communities in Northern
Uganda, using ex field mapper teachers who had to go back to work. Is
being adopted into the curriculum, we hope... Also bringing it into the
settlements soon, with the same technique.

 Hello,
I'm an italian geographer. I'm the president of Geograficamente, an
associaton to promote the importance of geography to society. We'd like to
organize HOT mapathons in schools for free and I'd like to know if we can
use the HOT logo in events or, otherwise, how we can become member of the
 team. Thank you,

 kindly,

[HOT] HOT Activation Working Group Meeting Today 1400UTC

2018-03-30 Thread russell . deffner
Hello HOT community,

We welcome you to join the Activation Working Group today (March 30th) at
1400UTC. Our meetings typically use text chat on the #hot IRC
  channel, which is bridged to
#hot_irc_channel in the HOT Slack . We sometimes
move to voice if those in attendance think it would facilitate the
conversation more effectively. In that case we will use Mumble
, an Open Source voice and text
platform we use for HOT Membership meetings. The agenda, notes and other
information can be found on the AWG wiki-page
 .

Now is a good time to discuss non-emergent things like imagery coordination,
hope to 'see' you there.

That's a great idea, I know how much children are enthusiast about this
experience! I wish you good luck on this.
I work at Politecnico di Milano so we are not that far...

Sure, I'm part of the Organizing Team and I'm leading the Academic Track of
the conference!
All the best,
