Re: [HOT] Ebola outbreak in the DRC

2018-05-21 Thread Claire Halleux
Thanks a lot Rebecca, Jean-Guilhem, Blake and Pierre for all the insights
and information.

I know the global urban footprint layer, it's an interesting product that
can help guiding some of the tracing.
However at the moment, in this crisis response, it seems more useful to get
more recent and higher resolution data (although it takes some more time to
identify).

All the best,

Claire

Re: [HOT] Ebola outbreak in the DRC

2018-05-21 Thread Pierre Béland
Great Jean-Guilhem
With some Ebola cases in the large city of Mbandaka, it is important to
intensify mapping to support epidemiologists in Congo. This url link let's see
the urgent tasks for the OSM community to support
remotely.https://tasks.hotosm.org/contribute?difficulty=ALL=Ebola2018
The ESA Global Buildup Density map can be added to JOSM with this josm wms link
wms:https://utep.it4i.cz/geoserver/gwc/service/wms?SERVICE=WMS=GetMap=1.1.1=ESA_UTEP:GUF10_DenS==image%2Fpng=true=256=256=%5Bobject%20Object%5D=={proj}={width}={height}={bbox}
I also added these «pixels» to my osm-pixel map.
See
https://pierzen.dev.openstreetmap.org/osm-pixels/#13/0.049695/18.245547where
you select as overlay (Section A superposer) the ESA urban density layer. In the
bottom section we can select Bing or other imagery to compare with this density
map.
We see that not all urban areas are identified. Would other layers help to
cover smaller housing density areas?

  Hi Claire,

Regarding the identification of inhabited areas, do you know about the “Global
Urban Footprint” dataset? See for example:

 Could it also be useful?

 Best wishes.

  Hi all,
Many thanks to the 293 OSM contributors and to the amazing validators who
have already participated to the mapping in the Equateur province, since May
8th.
The 17th task was published this morning to respond to the needs expressed by
Doctors without Borders and the Congolese Ministry of Health. Yesterday
afternoon, while visiting the emergency operation center team at the Ministry,
it was said that the identification of inhabited areas in OSM (mapped as
residential landuse) is particularly helpful to them at the moment, as well as
the detailed mapping of the urban areas, to better follow the people that have
recently been in contact with confirmed cases.
While there's been at least one new case detected each day in the area since
the outbreak declaration, they also wished additional areas to be mapped as
well. Some tasks are already ready to be added but in order to keep up with the
quality of the data produced (i.e. keeping the rythm with the validation), we
need more validators.
If you are already participating to this validation, thank you so much! If
you are not yet but have already significantly contributed to OSM, maybe it's
time to give it a try...
If you want an overview of the area covered by these mapping tasks so far,

You can use this great tool from Pascal Neis:
http://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-changesets?comment=TanzaniaDevelopment
It computes statistics over the last 30 days for a specific hashtag (min. 5
and max. 20 characters, so search for "TanzaniaDevelopment")

You might want to contact Pascal Neis. I think that he has a system to
extract data with hash tags in the change set comments.

[HOT] Retention of mappers analysis

2018-05-21 Thread Janet Chapman
Does anyone have a script to analyse information about people mapping using a
particular hashtag please?

We would like to analyse how long our volunteers mapping with
#TanzaniaDevelopmentTrust have been mapping for and how many edits they have
done?

Many thanks
Janet
