Hi Roger,
Our Disaster Mapping program is guided by a similar protocol (I’m pretty sure DG’s has bits from ours ;) You can get info here: https://www.hotosm.org/projects/hot_training_center The short version is we have an Activation Working Group that coordinates our response. In the case of Hawaii, the local mappers pretty much took care of things without needing an HOT activation. However, we almost always support in some way and helping with imagery is something we can do. Best bet to just chat with folks and see what might work is to join our Slack: http://slack.hotosm.org/ either the #disaster-mapping channel or #imagery-coord would do. Or you can email activat...@hotosm.org <mailto:activat...@hotosm.org> to direct message the working group. Thanks for asking, happy to help! =Russ Russell Deffner Volunteer Disaster Mapping Coordinator Email: <mailto:russell.deff...@hotosm.org> russell.deff...@hotosm.org OSM/Skype: russdeffner Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) <http://hotosm.org/> Web | <http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Humanitarian_OSM_Team> Wiki | <http://hotosm.org/updates> Blog | <http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Humanitarian_OSM_Team#Communication> Contact | <http://hotosm.org/donate> Donate From: Roger Rustad <rrus...@itdrc.org> Sent: Tuesday, June 5, 2018 12:04 AM To: hot@openstreetmap.org Subject: [HOT] activating Kilauea, HI area Open Street Map team, What is the best way to ask this group to activate an area for a disaster? In Digital Globe’s disaster activation protocol, and it says that the listed partners will leverage the open imagery and data made available (Open Street Map is included) and to solicit them for feedback after an emergency. https://dg-cms-uploads-production.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/document/file/235/DigitalGlobe_Disaster_Response_Open_Data_Activation_Protocol.pdf We at ITDRC are working with the Hawaii Tracker group on providing communications tools so that they can upload their pictures of the lava flow. As you might guess, however, this is a painfully slow process and we were exploring ways that we might accelerate this with more up-to-date satellite pictures of the area. Could someone point me in the right direction to make a request? Rog P.S. Those needing more information can email me (rrus...@itdrc.org <mailto:rrus...@itdrc.org> ) , and I can loop in the right people at Hawaii Tracker I’m dealing with. There are also two main ways we openly collaborate – FB and Telegram. FB – Hawaii Tracker - https://www.facebook.com/groups/hawaiitracker/ Telegram – Hawaii Tracker (general discussion) - https://t.me/hawaiitracker Telegram – Hawaii Tracker (tech people) - http://bit.ly/2LLNRvH (messages here are relayed into a ITDRC member slack channel) ___________________________________ Roger E.
