Currently there is only a button to calculate the mean (output) exposure. Changing the anchor has no effect on this function, because it calculates the mean exposure independent of the anchor image. Modifying the anchor in the preview would only make sense, if the photometric optimizer is available from the preview window. This is not the case, and also contradicts the intent of the fast preview window. Also it is not necessary to switch to expert interface.
