Change some settings, e.g. the size of the panorama in the "stitching" tab. Click on "stitch". Hugin will prompt that the panorama must be saved before stitching. In the "save" dialog enter a filename that is different from the name of the file that you loaded. Hugin will faultly overwrite the file that you loaded instead of saving it to the new .pto filename.
