[hugin-ptx] The viewable sphere

2013-02-18 Thread Terry Duell

Hello All,
For anyone interested there is a good article on the subject ("Mathematics
Meets Photography" by David Swart and Bruce Torrence), which includes
discussion on the related projections and transformations, in "The Best
Writing on Mathematics 2012" published by Princeton University Press.
The original articles were published in "Maths Horizons" 19.1 (2011):
14-17 and "Maths Horizons" 19.2 (2011): 24-27.

This sounds like your local repository/checkout is not ok.
After checkout there should be a folder .hg (created/used by
mercurial). From the error message it appears that this folder is
missing, so the local repository is corrupted.

You need to build directly from the local repository, then the rev.txt
is not needed and will be automatically created.

If this is not an option, you can create you own "source tarball":
Do a fresh checkout, then run cmake, followed by "make
package_source". Now you have your own source tarball. Extract this
tarball and build from this directory.

There was an error in the build. It worked on my dev machine, but not

Please download it again. It should now work without glut32.dll.

Yes, it works for me. Please don't mix the 32 and 64-bit version. Both
need a different dll, which is included in the archive.
Unfortunately, the 32 and 64 bit version of this dll have the same

Could you please be so kind as to upload seam images of your stitching scenario

Hi, I guess now I understood your first question. You can stitch one
group of pictures and then use that same project to stitch the other
exposure group. You open an empty hugin file, load your next images
and then go to the menu "File / Apply template" and it will ask you
for the template to apply, which can be any hugin project file (pto).

I also suggest that you don't do exposure optimization. To be sure
that it is not done you can reset it in the "Camera and Lens" tab,
selecting all the images and clicking in the "Reset" button. In the
window that pops up you can erase exposure to zero, colour, vigneting
and camera response.

Cheers, Cartola.

Well, hugin does stack fusion with enfuse, but align_image_stack (a command
line tool) only creates the aligned images for you to use with your
prefered HDR program. Hugin also does exposure optimization, something I
usually also don't do. Usually if you shot with manual and fixed settings
it is not necessary.

I really like the result that enfuse gives, as it doesn't change colors, it
only chooses the best exposed pixels from the images you give him. On its
page it shows how the choice is made and how you can change it, but I
usually use the default.

I thought that your problem was to align the different panoramas to make
the HDR, so I suggested that you could do the HDR before hugin, with the
separated images, as I do. If your images are already aligned then that
would be quite easy.

If your images are previously aligned that you can also do the stitching of
one stack in Hugin and then use the same project on the other images,
obtaining separated panoramas already aligned to do your HDR with your
prefered tool.

If you still doesn't have chosen an HDR process, than that's another thing.
I have used Luminance, FDRTools and Panomatix, but usually doesn't like the
artificial look of the tonemapping process they all do. I like better the
enfuse fusion better then traditional HDR, but that depends on your
objective and personal preference. You can see in the pictures here what
you can expect with enfuse in or out of Hugin:
http://www.cartola.org/cartola/index.php?title=Hugin_-_Combinando_exposi%C3%A7%C3%B5es.
Another possibility if you are on a unix like system is this approach:

Thanks from your response,

But no, align_image_stack doesnt work the way I want it to work. We did use
tripod, and actually we used PanoMAXX also. Align stack DOES create a sort
of HDR but tonemapping and colors look horrible. We mostly shoot indoors.
Also we do have HDR image program but it makes some of our pictures blurry
or make them look foggy. LuminanceHDR is programs name, unless there is any
tips to use that program :)

I may have used align_image_stack wrongly, I have made a stack from 5
different exposure times (light to dark, plainly). I'm not sure is that the
way to use it though, if it isn't I would be happy to get some advice to it.
