Dear all!
I've done some more work on the windows version, ironing out a few
glitches and adding documentation. So I've added a new development
snapshot to bitbucket downloads:
https://bitbucket.org/kfj/pv/downloads/lux_for_windows1.0.8e.zip
This version shows the lux startup banner without flickering. There may
be short displays of a blank white screen while things are set up, but
then the banner screen takes over while the data are loaded from disk,
and with 'first light' from the rendering thread, the banner screen is
replaced with the latest rendered frame. Metadata display in the status
line seems to work as intended, so I hope this version can finally pass
as the release candidate for 1.0.9, sorry for re-announcing it.
While working on Windows, I noticed that, with the 'Path' environment
variable set correctly, I could use lux.exe like any other regular
'App', so that I could:
- call lux from the command line (msys2, Powershell, etc.)
- use it as target for the context menu's 'open with'
- use Win+R, shell:send_to to make it a Send To target
I documented my modifications to the 'Path' environment variable in the
README.
Is there really no-one in this group willing and capable to produce a
windows installer? I think it's even possible to just tell CMake to
produce one, it shouldn't be too hard. I'm not so good at windows stuff,
but from the downloads I figure that there are some windows users who
download lux bundles, so I'd like to make it easier for them to
integrate lux into their systems.
