[hugin-ptx] A Palmela 2011 Update

2011-04-17 Thread Carlos Chegado Lists
Hello Hugin friends, here is an update on the current Palmela 2011 status,
sorry for the long post ;-)

This summer Palmela, Portugal, will be the world capital of panoramic
photography.
It is going to be amazing!

Panorama photographers are coming from around the world to this charming
village in the vineyard-covered hills south of Lisbon for a feature full
program packed with tutorials, lectures, vendor displays, banquets,
receptions, and field trips. Not to mention exhibitions of every sort of
panoramic photography art, all over town, all summer long.
How many attendees registered so far?
--
As of today, April 17, 2011, we have 110 attendees registered for the
Tutorials, Conference or Tutorials + Conference programs.
This number surpasses our best estimates and confirms Palmela 2011 as the
biggest and best international panoramic photography conference.

If you want to hang out with the world’s leading panoramic photographers –
Palmela is the place and June 1–5 is the time.

To register for the conference, check the ticket prices
hereand register
here .
Please beware that early bird prices are due to end on April 30!
Who is coming to Palmela 2011?
--
Willy Kaemena came up with a great way to visualize who is coming and where
from in the form of a Google Map that will be continually updated as more
registrations come in.
Check the Palmela 2011 Attendee Map
here
.

Palmela 2011 – The Tutorials
--
The Palmela 2011 tutorials program turned out to be a huge success with
registrations so far tripling the estimate, with 30 registrations. So, in
addition to Pat Swovelin, we added a second tutorial instructor, Keith
Martin, who was kind enough to accept the challenge and is right now working
with Pat on the tutorial program details.
The tutorials program will run on May 31 and we have two conference rooms
available to the participants, the Cine-Teatro São João (main conference
room) and the Palmela Municipal Library conference room (just across the
street from the theater).
A lunch buffet will be served to all tutorials attendees by the Palmela
Castle Pousada at the 1st. floor of the Cine-Teatro São João.

Palmela Regional Products Showcase
--
All Palmela 2011 attendees are invited for a Palmela Regional Products
Showcase at Pátio do Pessegueiro, the beautiful balcony at Palmela Castle
Pousada, on May 31 between 5pm to 8pm that will include a Moscatel de
Setúbal wine tasting event kindly offered by out partner Setúbal Península
Wine Route. This event is open to all Palmela 2011 attendees, just drop by
the Pousada and try some of the local products [image: ;-)]

Palmela 2011 – The Conference
--
The four days of lectures and seminars will cover all the hot topics on the
panoramic photography world and we are fortunate enough to have a list of
speakers that includes the best personalities that are relevant today in the
world of panoramic photography.
Currently we have the following 19
speakerslined up to talk
at Palmela 2011:

[hugin-ptx] Palmela 2011 - Last call for conference speakers

2011-04-05 Thread Carlos Chegado Lists

In the last weeks, the Palmela 2011 organization has been announcing
conference speakers on a regular basis. Currently we have the following 12
speakers lined up to
talk at Palmela 2011:

   - Ignacio Ferrando

In addition to the 12 speakers listed above, we have another 12 approved
speakers to be announced in the coming days, we are currently preparing the
announcement pages. This makes a total of 24 approved speakers so far, which
is what I call a fantastic group of generous persons with an invaluable
wealth of panoramic information to share at Palmela 2011 – The Conference,
making attending this conference, a must!

It might be possible to accommodate one more speaker in the
schedule,
hence, we are issuing a last call for speakers. If you are planning to
attend Palmela 2011 – The Conference and want to address the community with
a talk at the Cine-Teatro São João in Palmela, this is your last chance to
get a speaker slot. Contact us with a
talk proposal and you might be featured in the conference program
too.

[hugin-ptx] Hello, here is a Palmela 2011 update

2011-03-01 Thread Carlos Chegado Lists
Hi,

Here is a Palmela 2011 - update:

*For those without time to read the detail =>* Over 60 registered attendees
already signed in, we now have two hotels fully packed with Palmela 2011
attendees, a third hotel under
contract
to
start accept bookings from today (March 1) with up to 100 rooms available!
Speakers and
sponsors being
announced at Palmela2011.com . Now it's a good time
to sign up for Palmela
2011
.

And here is the more detailed update:
*
*
*Conference Attendees:*

As of today, March 1, we have over 60 attendees registered for the
conference or tutorials + conference programs, this is the highest number of
registrations in the first month of any previous IVRPA conference.
Hopefully we should be able to start publish the attendee list on the Palmela
2011 website in the
coming days.
If you want to register for the conference, now it's a good time, check the
ticket prices here and register
here
.

*Conference Speakers: *

We have some great speakers lined up
already, Ignacio
Ferrando Margelí, Joergen Geerds, Nicole Tung and Jason Barr, Thomas K.
Sharpless, but we ain't stopping here, more speakers will be announced
during next month as we aim to cover all hot topics in the panoramic world.
If you are attending Palmela 2011 and want to give a talk here,
contact us,
we still have some 30min and 20min speaker slots available.

*Conference Sponsors:*

We recently opened sponsor registrations and already Nodal
Ninja
, Tourwrist , Kolor
and Garden
Gnome showed their love for this
conference by signing in as Palmela 2011 Sponsors, Vendors or Partners.
Check the terms here and sign in
by registering your company to become a sponsor
here
.

*Conference Accommodation:*

The first hotel, Palmela Castle Pousada was sold out on Feb. 14. The second
Hotel, the S. Filipe Fortress Pousada in nearby Setúbal, sold out yesterday,
Feb. 28.
Given the high demand we are experiencing for this conference, we went to
great lengths to find a third hotel to accommodate everyone that wants to
attend Palmela 2011 - The Conference from June 1 to 5, 2011.

The new hotel is the Palmela Village Golf
Resort
and
although not up there in the Castle, it's located only 10 minutes away from
the village on a recently built golf resort.
We hope this new option with up to 100 rooms available will settle
everyone's need for a room to attend Palmela 2011.

*Palmela 2011 Exhibitions:*

Several teams are working on many different exhibitions and we expect to
start announce the exhibitions in detail next week.
We have planned the following Palmela 2011 exhibitions to open to public on
June 2 and 3, 2011:

   - Gigapixel Challenge.
   - Masters of Contemporary Panoramic Photography.
   - Panos for the People group exhibition (distributed across several
   places on Palmela Old Town).
   - My Planets (stereographic projection group exhibition).
   - Three individual exhibitions from renowned panoramic artists

For some of the exhibitions we will launch in the coming days a request
for submissions from the panoramic community.
Everyone will have equal chance to participate, independently of being an
IVRPA member or not.
Exhibitions will open on the first week of June, remain on display during
the summer and close on August 31.

*Palmela 2011 Volunteers:*

The Palmela 2011 – Panoramic Photography Festival was made possible by the
dedicated work the following volunteers.
