This worked for me, when combined with freepv.

If you are looking to generate flash, there is an open source product called
 PanoSalado http://panosalado.com/panosalado/blog.

I could never find enough PanoSalado documentation to make this work.
It could be a common problem described in several threads implicating
the Adobe Linux command line compiler.

There is a completely untested Makefile plugin shipped with hugin
0.8.0, it requires Panotools::Script and ImageMagick, but you may
find you are able to create a simple PanoSalado panorama like so:

 make -f /usr/share/hugin/Makefile.equirect.mk panosalado PTO=project.pto

I eventually got this to work, once I added HUGIN_PROJECTION=2 to the
command line.

equirectangular panoramas with a java applet such as ptviewer:

 http://www.fsoft.it/panorama/ptviewer.htm

This worked very well. You can see the results at

Now for the 19th...

[hugin-ptx] Re: 360x180 deg pano, viewer

2009-04-29 Thread Gerry Patterson
Hello Peter,

I am assuming that is 360x180 not 360x1880. :-)

You can create quick time VR files (.mov) using Bruno's
Panotools-Scripthttp://search.cpan.org/dist/Panotools-Script/module.
The relevant script is erect2qtvr. It is certainly scriptable
and you end up with a selfcontained .mov file that can be e-mailed around or
placed on a website.

If you are looking to generate flash, there is an open source product called
PanoSalado http://panosalado.com/panosalado/blog. I beleive is a flash
pano viewer that uses 360x180 erects directly. You have to place the
viewer in the webpages and point it at your pictures stored somewhere on the
server. No more processing is done.

An alternative flash solution is
Pano2VRhttp://gardengnomesoftware.com/pano2vr.php.
It is comercial and seems to work well. It generates a flash file for each
360x180 erect you give it. This can then be placed on your webiste or
e-mailed to people to view. I don't beleive you can create self contained
packages .swf like this with the above mentioned panosalado. ( I may be
wrong in this, so please check for yourself).

Best Regards,

- Gerry

I have the first two of several 360x1880 degree panorama files.

What are the steps I need to go through to put them on my web site in a
way that other people can view them with an immersive pan and zoom
 environment?

 Can it be scripted?

I'm using Linux (Ubunti Jaunty), so open source is preferred.

QTVR is definitely falling out of favour with panographers because
Flash is more ubiquitous, but there is freepv for viewing them on
Linux, and after the coming Summer of Code VideoLAN will be able to
view QTVR.

I use PTviewer because it's the easiest I have found...here are some
example made by me using kompozer and PTviewer under ubuntu Intrepid:
http://digilander.libero.it/mcri79/panorami/panorami.html.
In this other page you could find all you need to know to use
PTviewer: http://www.all-in-one.ee/~dersch/PTVJ/doc.html

I'm trying to understand panosalado because it looks much better but
it is also more complicated and there is very few documentation.

QTVR is not a good solution if you are going open source!

QTVR has many problems and is in decline, but it is openly specified
and can be authored and viewed with open source tools.

It can also be created using the plugin Makefile in 0.8.0:

   make -f /usr/share/hugin/Makefile.equirect.mk qtvr PTO=project.pto
