Hi List I have decided to restart the nightly builds of the Hugin Ubuntu packages. My main motivation is my feeling that the earlier we can catch bugs, the faster and better the final release for all operating systems turn out.
Currently, the nightly build have to be initiated by me, from hand, on my private PC. But I'm planning to move to a fully automated model within the month. Today, packages for the following Ubuntu releases are built: Trusty Tahr (14.04LTS) Utopic Unicorn (14.10) Vivid Vervet (15.04) Wily Werewolf (15.10) (not released yet) If you feel brave enough to tackle the latest and greatest Hugin[1] but don't want to compile it yourself, please read on: Installation ------------ Open a terminal window issue the following commands: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hugin/nightly The title of the PPA and the key used to sign it will be displayed. You will have to confirm the inclusion of this PPA to the package sources of you system by pressing enter. Afterward, you can update you system using the commands sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade or whatever method you prefer to update your system. As a side note, you may want to add ppa:hugin/latest as well to your repositories: This way, you also will get the latest enblend/enfuse released which will make a difference. Just follow the steps above and replace ppa:hugin/nightly with ppa:hugin/hugin-builds. De-installation --------------- If you run into a show stopper but urgently have to create that panorama you currently work on, you can remove the nightly Hugin build and downgrade to your latest stable version. Just issue these commands in a terminal window: sudo apt-get purge hugin sudo add-apt-repository -r ppa:hugin/nightly sudo apt-get install hugin Please report all your findings either on this mailing list (mailto:hugin-ptx@googlegroups.com) or on the Hugin Launchpad bug tracker at https://bugs.launchpad.net/hugin/+filebug Have fun! Stefan Peter [1] At the moment, the development version closely follows the current beta. Using the nightly builds now, you get the opportunity to test the fixes in advance of the release of the next beta/rc whatever! -- Any technology that does not appear magical is insufficiently advanced. ~ Gregory Benford -- A list of frequently asked questions is available at: http://wiki.panotools.org/Hugin_FAQ --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hugin and other free panoramic software" group.
