Dear Colleagues ,

Another act of piracy by the government of Israel on the High Seas ,
 namely the kidnapping of the ship " DIGNITY" of the Freedom Flotilla ,
which had onboard the representatives of the citizens of all those countries
which had with considerable effort contributed to the ships and the 
 humanitarian cargo , this is  continuing with impunity the piracy
committed on all vessels of the International movement of the Freedom
Flotillas on the high sea and on the territorial waters of the sea off
Gaza, and the territorial waters of the  State of Palestine as demarcated 
by the UN Resolution, in respect of   which the government of Israel is
 accountable to the International community as a whole , as citizens of several 
countries who are members of the United Nations were on board
these vessels which included the Rachel Corrie among others and have
been arbitrarily kidnapped and detained some killed and several injured
and threatened with their belongings stolen .

There is no atonement whatsoever for the collective killings on the 
MAVI MARMARA ,in respect of which the government of Turkey
 has capitulated, even as it has sacrificed the lives of Turkish citizens
 without any accountability by Israel with collusion amongst the
diplomats of both governments .For which the citizens of Turkey
must demand accountability and transparency as to on what basis
can there be such a compact .The location of these vessels were such
that it posed no danger whatsoever to the government or people
of Israel .

At the level of the former Chief of the IDF Lt. General Gabi
Ashkenazi there is now a statement made, that establishment of
the State of Palestine is inevitable as a state entity and that
the government of Israel must co-operate for its establishment.
 Whereas the former Chief of Mossad has stated that the objective 
of the governmentof  Israel to attack the  Iranian Nuclear Reactors
 which supply nuclear energy scheduled for September, will be 
counterproductive and achieve no purpose or objective apart
from being a setback for Israel.

The Zionist government of Israel now  desires to take action against 
the former head of Mossad, to strip him of his diplomatic passport 
and proceed against him which will only confirm that there is in the
pipeline which warrants action against the head of  State of Israel 
and members of the government who have planned such an attack , as this
will be amount to a nuclear attack in respect of the fall out effect of
such an attack on a Nuclear plant  established for the supply of
power .

 There is a re-colonization project targeting other countries
in this region and in other regions for take over of resources
even as the banker's war is unleashed in Europe and the USA
against its own citizens camouflaged as austerity for which
certain government which are military staging points are
required as forward military bases of NATO , even if it
results in an attack with a nuclear fall out and we are still
not at the end of such strategies for this and other
regions .

  PCHR Denounces Kidnapping the French "Dignity” Ship and Holds IOF Responsible 
for the Safety of International Solidarity Activists

   

  The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) denounces surrounding the 
French Ship - "Dignity" - off the Gaza Strip coast and taking it forcibly to 
the Israeli waters by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF).  PCHR holds IOF 
legally responsible for the safety of the international activists on board.  
PCHR also calls upon the international community to immediately intervene and 
exert pressure on Israel to stop its continuing violations against the 
international solidarity flotillas, which struggle in order to end the illegal 
Israeli siege imposed on the civilian population in the Gaza Strip.

   

  Four Israeli gunboats surrounded "Dignity" with 16 international activists, 
three crew members and two journalists on board, approximately 40 nautical 
miles off  the Gaza Strip coast.  The attack was carried out on Tuesday 
morning, 19 July 2011.  The Ship "Dignity" was forcibly taken by IOF to Ashdod 
Port in Israel, while all communications with the ship have been jammed since 
then. 

  "Dignity", as part of the Freedom Flotilla 2 that is stuck in the Greek ports 
under a decision issued by the Greek Government, is an international message of 
freedom, dignity and human rights to end the siege and stop the policy of 
collective punishment imposed o

ARAVIND in respect of PEOPLE OF JAGATSINGHPUR was placed before the
Commission on 05-07-2011.

  AND WHEREAS upon perusing the complaint the Commission has passed the
following order.

  The Commission has also received following complaints alleging police
action against the protesters in Govindpur and Dhinkia villages of
Jagatsinghpur District, Orissa, who were protesting against the forceful
land acquisition by the Govt. of Orissa for the proposed POSCO Project.

The Commission has already taken cognizance of the matter in case No.
1126/18/23/2011 and vide its proceedings dated 28.6.2011 has called for a
detailed report from the Chief Secretary and DGP, Orissa.

Since the Commission has already taken cognizance of the matter, all these
cases be linked with case No. 1126/18/23/2011 and a copy each of the
complaints in these cases be sent to the Chief Secretary and DGP, Orissa.
Put up alongwith the main file.

  NOW THEREFORE TAKE NOTICE that you are required to submit the
requisite information/Report within 4 weeks from the date of receipt of this
notice.

  TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that in default the Commission may proceed to take
such action as it deems proper.

On 16th July 2011 Saturday eight platoons of police attacked and lathi
charged peaceful protesters in the village of Nuagaon, Jagatsinghpur
District, Odisha. The protesters, despite being mainly women, were attacked
by an entirely male police force, resulting in injuries to several and
serious injuries to one woman, who has now been hospitalised. The protesters
were seeking to protect their forests and trees from being cleared by the
police as part of the government's land grab for the POSCO project. After
the lathi charge the entire village joined the protest, eventually driving
the police back and forcing them to retreat.



We strongly condemn this brutal attack on a peaceful protest by people
seeking to protect their legal and democratic rights. This attack disproves
the Odisha government's brazenly false claims that "no force is being used"
to take land for POSCO. Nuagaon, one must remember, is also one of the
villages where the government claimed that "land takeover is proceeding
peacefully" - a result not of consent by the people but of the overwhelming
threat of force from the government. Today, when people have actually shown
their will, the government has shown its true intent.



One must remember that the people of Nuagaon, like all those affected by the
POSCO project, have legal rights to their forest and also enjoy the legal
power to protect these forests when they wish. This was upheld by three
different committees of the Environment Ministry, which went on to, in an
act of brazen illegality, clear the takeover of land anyway. Both the Odisha
government and the Centre are engaged in a gross violation of law, a
resource grab of land and forests that belong to the people for a private
multinational company. This attack further comes at a time when the Odisha
High Court is hearing, on a daily basis, the petition filed by the villagers
against this illegal land grab.



We demand:

·  An immediate halt to all police operations in the proposed project area
and the withdrawal of the police from the area;

·  The cancellation of the illegal forest and environmental clearances
granted to the POSCO project;

·  The implementation of the Forest Rights Act and all other pro people laws
in the area;

·  Prosecution and punishment of the officials and police responsible for
the atrocities and violations of law in the area;

·  A cancellation of the POSCO project and an end to the six year long
attack on the people of the area for the purposes of this project.
