[IAEP] Uruguayan XOs Revival

2023-06-30 Thread Luis Michelena
It's anybody there?
Cheers from Uruguay, long time no see, How are you all? Some folks
from Uruguay Butiá/CeibalJam and I, are trying to unlock XOs from
Ceibal(to revisit Butiá, and ,maybe, it's possible uses in
accesibility)
Do some of you could give us some advice about how unlock them?
It would be preferable if it could be posible to maintain the fs contents.
It's there still a chance to get developer keys for the XOs?
Because Ceibal decided to end support, declare them obsolete, and
begin to recycle !! but also turn the switch off for the rest of
the kicking ones...

Thank you in advance,
Luis Michelena

It would be really good to see a teacher who is in a Sugar deployment
full time on the oversight board or in a role that ensures the
oversight board is hearing from teachers in deployments.

omg does that make sense?
someone on the ground who is not technical to provide a balanced
perspective?

Tabitha

whoa! that's a good idea indeed! how nice would it be? A place to be
really heard, for thousands of teachers... to lead from the ground and
not from the ivory tower(perceived or real)... To cut the middle men
FOSS Culture at it best! if only english wouldn't be a precondition.

greets from uruguay,
Luis

En español(más o menos):

Luis

I've done (but it's not merged and is quite rough) a litle change to hide
the definition of a stack, when you click on it, achieving a cleaner canvas,
without much hassle with the containers type. The only change needed is that
instead of execute a stack when you click on it, it just hides/shows its
content. The other thing that would be missing is a library container, where
you can store the stacks.

I couldn't agree more with the editable python block, but I think the best
route would be to lunch an inline instance of pipy.

In the speed issue, every time you execute some code, it first "compiles"
the code and the "bitecode" is just string based, so if you could compile
the code to python when there's a change and only the changing part, you
would have less time to start the execution and a faster execution in
itself.

Luis

Won't do in uruguay, where as you may know, root access is denied.
