Hello folks, Thanks Peace for the push behind designing a new brand image for Sugar Labs. I too like Option 3 with the flexibility it provides. I see a lot of potential with that, thanks! Re: [IAEP] [Sugar-devel] [SLOBS] Oversight Board Elections 2019-21 has begun!
Hello folks, Good to see everyone can vote and the election is going fine. We did have technical difficulty at the start but I am working on resolving that. We did have a number of email addresses of the members bounce as their alias didn't exist (About 30+). I would request if you do know of any past or present members of Sugar Labs and didn't receive the election link. Then please do come forward to update your email address, so we can send you links to the election as well. The voter turnout is at 8% and I think we can do better! Thanks Ibiam for covering that bit, if anyone would like to be a member of Sugar Labs they can apply here - https://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Sugar_Labs/Members James, do you have access to memb...@sugarlabs.org alias? If you do can you remove the candidates that are up for election? In the meantime, I will add SLOB to the results. That's a good idea. [IAEP] Important Update on the Slob Elections 2019-2021
Hello everyone, Over the past couple of days, there have been some important updates regarding the upcoming SLOB elections. These are as follows, 1. The Sugar Labs oversight board has unanimously agreed to the motion of changing the name of the election to *2019-21*, the decision is underlined below. Agreed Motion 2020-02; this late election to be renamed 2019-2021, and > that the seats to vacate be either three or four, per our governance > rule "positions on the board will be on a two-year staggered basis". You can find the information regarding the election and the candidates here, https://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Oversight_Board/2019-2021-candidates (We are still migrating information of candidates and will finish that up soon) 2. In regards to the same, the seats to be vacated has to be either three or four for the election to take place. There is one (1) additional slot available after the resignation of Walter Bender from the oversight board. Walter will still be closely associated with all activities of Sugar Labs. 3. After a discussion with the election committee, I have decided the election will take place from *15th January to 31st January 2020*. Results will be declared soon after that. That would be all for the moment. Hoping to see you all vote for the upcoming elections! Expecting a bigger turnout. As always, do reach out if you have any questions. Re: [IAEP] [SLOBS] Announcing Candidates for the Upcoming SLOB Elections!
Thanks Ibiam for the clarification! 1. James, I take the blame for the misunderstanding caused due to point 1, should have cross-checked the facts. I hope this clears it up. 2. I feel the elections should be for 2020-2022 as well, keeping in mind the fact that we are not cutting anyone's term short by taking this action and doing right by everyone. This could be a fresh start as well. the election committee can make sure to have election every year so this scenario doesn't happen again. Looking forward to other views as well. 3. Looking ahead to see what turns up and proceed accordingly. We have also finalized the dates of the election. Will announce them once we finalize this.
