StarEnergy akuisisi Blok Kakap dari ConocoPhillips Star Energy, perusahaan minyak dan gas (migas) baru Indonesia, telah mengambil alih kontrak bagi hasil (production sharing contract/PSC) Kakap dari tangan perusahaan migas Amerika Serikat, ConocoPhillips. Dow Jones melaporkan Senin (October 6). Direktur utama Star Energy Supramo Santosa mengatakan, akuisisi terhadap lapangan gas di Natuna Barat, propinsi Kepulauan Riau, itu telah dilakukan pada 18 September lalu. Namun ia tidak mau menyebut nilai akuisisi tersebut. Star Energy berhasil mengalahkan perusahaan nasional yang telah mapan, PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (JSX:MEDC), dalam akuisisi blok Kakap ini. Blok Kakap merupakan aset ConocoPhillips pertama di Indonesia yang terjual, setelah perusahaan ini beberapa waktu lalu mengumumkan program penjualan banyak asetnya di seluruh dunia. Di Indonesia, ada sekitar 9 aset perusahaan hasil merger Conoco Inc. dan Phillips Petroleum ini yang akan dijual. Supramo mengatakan, blok Kakap ini menawarkan cash-flow yang menguntungkan dari produksi gas yang ada. Selain itu, Kakap PSC juga memberi "pintu masuk strategis" bagi Star Energy sebagai pemain baru di sektor minyak dan gas Indonesia. Supramo sendiri adalah mantan eksekutif ConocoPhillips, dan sebelumnya menjabat vice president Gulf Resources Indonesia, pemilik awal Kakap PSC. Conoco Inc. mengakuisisi Gulf pada 2001, termasuk seluruh aset Gulf di Indonesia. Kakap PSC kini sedang terikat kontrak memasok gas sebesar 60-65 juta kaki kubik per hari ke SembCorp Gas Pte, Singapura. Kakap PSC juga memiliki komitmen untuk menjual minyak mentah Kerapu (Kerapu crude) sebanyak 9.000 barel ke BP Singapore.
