The 37 th IAGI ANNUAL COVENTION BANDUNG 2008 PRESENT: Pre IAGI-Convention Fieldtrip : “RIFTBASIN PETROLEUM GEOLOGY, CENTRAL NORTH SUMATRA” This Field Trip is aimed to understand the rift basin sedimentology, stratigraphy and petroleum system by observing both the ancient and modern analogues in Central Sumatra Basin and surrounding area. The trip will be started with visit to outcrops in Gunung Tua in the north-western part of Central Sumatra Basin, continued by visiting Quaternary sediments in Toba Lake in the present day intra-montana basin. Alluvial fan, braided stream, lakedelta, lacustrine, tidal flats, and open marine sediments are going to be observed during the field trip. On the other, some geological feature will be shown during the trip such as Left Lateral Sumatra Fault System and getothermal of Sarulla. Beside on it, local culture will be visited and shown as part activity of this trip. You will look Traditional Batak home, Batak Museum and Sigale-gale Dance and the historical of 1st Batak King (Raja Sidabutar).
