Dear IAGI Member,

Biro Kursus IAGI (Indonesian Association of Geologists) has arranged a
workshop in September 2013. Workshop will be held at Hotel Grand Hyatt,
Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

*“Petroleum Potential In Frontier Areas Of Indonesia: Opportunities,
Risks, And Ways Of Exploration”*

September 9th-11st, 2013

Hotel Grand Hyatt
Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Instructor : Awang Harun Satyana

Duration : 3 Days Workshop

Workshop Level : Basic – Intermediate

*About The Workshop :*

Western Indonesian basins are considered for the most part to be relatively
mature with regard to petroleum exploration and production. There are,
however, a number of basins or parts of maturely-explored basins considered
to be underexplored hence like frontier areas, including: intra-arc and
fore-arc basins of Sumatra and Java, as well as onshore basins in inner
part of Kalimantan like upper Kutei, upper Tarakan, Melawi, Ketungau, and
Pembuang Basins. Compared to Western Indonesia, Eastern Indonesia is
considered to be underexplored, with half of the basins not yet drilled.
This is because of deep water, poor infrastructure, remote onshore
location, and a poor understanding of the geology. Eastern Indonesia, with
the exception of the Tertiary in Seram, Salawati and Bintuni basins, has
been considered to be frontier, including: Sulawesi, Halmahera, Banda Arc,
Papua and offshore areas around these islands. There are probably more than
100 speculative petroleum systems in the frontier areas of Indonesia which
need further exploration to realize their prospectivities.

* *

*You Will Learn :*

Day 1 : Introduction, Tectonics of Indonesia, Stratigraphy of Indonesia ,
Sedimentary Basins of Indonesia, and Petroleum System Analysis.

Day 2 : Intra-Arc Sumatra-Java Frontier, Fore-Arc Sumatra-Java Frontier,
Inner Kalimantan Frontier, Sulawesi Onshore and Offshore, and Lesser Sunda .

Day 3 : Banda Arc Onshore and Offshore, Papua Foreland-Central
Ranges-Fore-Arc, North of Papua and Halmahera, Paleozoic Arafura Sea, and
State of the Art of Frontier Exploration.

*Who Should Attend :*

Geologist, geophysicists, and other personnel who work in oil and gas
industry and interesting in oil and gas exploration in frontier areas of
Indonesia.

*Investment Fee:*

Before Course : IDR. 17.000.000 / participant, After Course : IDR.
17.500.000 / participant (Excluded accommodation and tax)

The workshop fee includes meals (2x coffee break and lunch), training kits,
training materials, group photograph, and certificate. In order to allow
sufficient time for arranging travel and processing document, participants
are recommended to make an early enrollment.

*About Instructor :*

(Government of Indonesia Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas
Business) for Pertamina EP. He graduated from the Geology Department of the
University of Padjadjaran, Bandung in 1989. He worked for PERTAMINA from
1990-2002 assigned various positions as Exploration Geologist and Regional
Geologist. Since 2002, Awang joined BPMIGAS and has assigned various
technical and managerial positions, in November 2012 BPMIGAS was dismissed
and replaced by SKK Migas.

Awang has actively serviced international and national geological societies
by contributing papers, articles, keynote talks, guest lectures and
courses. There have been totally 309 publications he made (87 full papers
for conferences, 54 articles for journals, 131 invited presentations,
keynotes and guest lectures, 31 course manuals, 6 chapters in six books).
Several of his papers got awards as the best papers and presentations. As
appreciation for his great contribution and dedication to geosciences,
“Lasut Award” from IAGI and "HAGI Award" from HAGI were awarded to Awang in
2002 and 2008, respectively.

Awang is so far the only Indonesian geologist assigned by the AAPG
(American Association of Petroleum Geologists) to be the Associate Editor
for the AAPG Bulletin (during 2006-2007). Awang is a member of IAGI
(Indonesian Association of Geologists), IPA (Indonesian Petroleum
Association), AAPG (American Association of Petroleum Geologists), HAGI
(Indonesian Association of Geophysicists), and IATMI (Indonesian Society of
Petroleum Engineers).
