Solaris on z

I'd expect those not to show up, since they are no longer in RECIEVE status. IMO, the REPORT ERRSYSMODS of the global zone isn't very interesting. The last time that I would have done active SMP work was 1991 and probably earlier than that. Subsequent time has been spent on the bench or in applications. I was on a year 2000 project and did applications support and wrote a library inventory matching system using IDRDATA and other load module information, parsed source and copy library information and other interesting things to support conversion to LE and maintaining synchronization between Y2K source and production source. -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html

Re: Outsourcing loosing steam?
---snip-- I would not dignify anything to do with fluid dynamics as *physics* which my schooling taught me dealt with topics to which some theoretical explanations can be applied. unsnip Since my background is, in part, in physics, I have to disagree, Chris. While it may seem that fluid dynamics is all empirical, there's good theoretical background as well. Look at Brownian motion, which is the basis for properties like fluid density, temperature and pressure. The calculations are numbing, to say the least, but the basis is there. Thankfully, the practical results can be expressed empirically, to a fair degree of accuracy, with much simpler calculations. Most of those calculations are distillations of some rather tedious partial differential equations. Re: SMS Question - Urgent
** DON'T PANIC ** take several deep breaths ... and think ... your 3.2 screen shows: Storage class . . . : PRODVSAM Organization . . . : PS Record format . . . : VB as Tom pointed out, wrong DSORG - should show up as VS (at least). from the ISMF test screen Lizette has wonderfully captured, test your ACS script with additional info: DSN (DSN/Collection Name) . . REFPROD.REF.DNO Dsorg . . . . VS Recorg . . . KS Dsntype . . . . . EXT If Ext . . . . Y to get SMS-managed, the dataset has to have a STORCLAS assigned first; STORGRUP MGMTCLAS follow thereafter (DATACLAS is generally optional). DATACLAS can be assigned to both SMS non-SMS datasets ... let's start tracing from your STORCLAS ACS routine. - ravi. ps: i take it your site does not have ACC/SRS, or StopX37/II ... so the source of the problem is confined only to your ACS routines. I have a 4341 shrink-wrapped in my garage, but that won't really help since I think the 4331's were a little smaller. OK, I give. What are you going to do with it?That's not a small machine. List of Withdrawn products from IBM
The list of withdrawn products at http://www-03.ibm.com/support/techdocs/atsmastr.nsf/WebIndex/FLASH10451 was a pleasant surprise to me. I do not want to disagree with IBM (at all) in their announcement. I think that this list was a long time in coming. I just wish there was a better way to get the information out to sysprogs and management. I have not been to SHARE it a few years, I would hope that IBM is doing their job in disseminating this type of information. Is the SHARE MVS group getting this type of information out? I am just afraid that someone is going to be surprised upon installation of a servpac. I have thought about this and because SE's no longer exist there doesn't seem to me anyway IBM can communicate any longer to the sysprogs. Has anyone come up with a sure fire way of getting this type of information out to the right people? Re: 4331 weight
I have several machines now, a 9672 a 4381, a 4341, a 4321, a NAS AS700 a 3081D and a System/3 and a 370/145. I also have a string of 3330's, 3340's, 3350's and 3380's and a 2305 with several replacement parts and several printers from a 1403 up and some telecom equipment from several vendors and a bunch of odds and ends. At the time I shrink wrapped them they all worked fine, although I'm not sure about the 370 because I had a problem when I moved it into the garage. When I bought my house, it came with a detached 5 car garage, and a local university was getting rid of their old computer room (they had long since disposed of their mainframe) so I offered to dismantle and cart off their raised floor. So now about 1/2 of the garage has a raised floor, although I'm not sure about moving the big iron on to it because of the weight. At some point I'm hoping to be able to donate the equipment like I did when I lived back east, but in the mean time it's just a hobby.
