Health Checker - LNKLST Datasets

2009-11-04 Thread Kenneth R Barkhau
Hello All-

Anyone know if there is a way to use the Health Checker to IDENTIFY the
SPECIFIC LNKLST datasets that are allocated with secondary extents?I
see that the Health Checker will discover if the condition exists, (ie.
IBMCSV CSV_LNKLST_SPACE
 IBMCSV CSV_LNKLST_NEWEXTENTS
datasets)

I want to find WHICH datasets are the culprit.

Thanks much,

Ken

z/OS 1.10 Server Pack Install - WAIT STATE X'019'

2009-06-17 Thread Kenneth R Barkhau
Hello Server Pac z/OS 1.10 Users

We just recently did an initial IPL of z/OS 1.10 as part of the 'server
pac' install and are getting a X'019' wait state. After some initial
digging
I ended up talking to IBM support where they pointed me to APAR II14450.
This APAR talks about a 'binder problem' with the linkedit of IEANUC01.
Up to this point in the install, I have not done any linkedit for the
NUCLEUS, just a straight download from the boulder site. Any jobs that I
do have
all use the approriate STEPLIBS:
  //STEPLIB DD DSN=SYS1.MIGLIB,DISP=SHR,VOL=SER=serverpac-resvol,
  // UNIT=3390
  //DD DSN=ASM.SASMMOD1,DISP=SHR,VOL=SER=serverpac-vol,
  // UNIT=3390

Anyone seen this or heard of this one?

Thanks in advance.
Ken

Looking the book, check the following:

1) SYS1.NUCLEUS on the new res pack is in only 1 extent. If it it 1, then
allocate a new one bigger (different name), copy old to new, rename old,
rename new.

2) Put the newest IPL text on the new IPL pack.

3) Make sure the IODF is good (i.e. not empty and is a production IODF).

2009-06-17 Thread Kenneth R Barkhau
Hello z/OS 1.10 Server Pac Users,

Many thanks for all of your input regarding this issue.

I decided to 'recreate' the IODF that I was using outside of the server
pac process.

Once I completed the 'IODF rebuild' and IPL'd , z/OS started coming up and
no more WAIT STATE x019.

I would like to know why the 'server pac' init/copy process did not work
(although
the jobs ran ok). The IODF was only in 1 extent.

Thanks much again.

The GMT parm is obsolete but will be accepted. Without the UTC or GMT

Hi Ken,

Without directly answering your question, and without mentioning our
details as to what put us in this position, we are currently running
quite a few CICS 2.2 regions under z/OS 1.9, and have not so far seen
any such problem. At least one is a large DB2 system, although running
SAP on DB2, so no 'creative' DB2 programming.

Only problems we had that might have resembled this (and I think we did
have some reason to look at this area) are when we went back from CICS
3.2 to CICS 2.2 without an initial start, also problems when CA-ENF was
not working fully. Also make sure you have updated your CSD with the
latest definitions for DB2 and CEE. We also at one point had weird
problems due to our CEE options for CICS not being set up correctly in
various ways.

Subject: CICS TS 2.2 and z/OS 1.7-

Hello All-

Without mentioning all of the details that put us in this position, we
are
in the process of trying to get CICS TS 2.2 to run under z/OS 1.7 on one

of our LPARS and getting a transaction abend
0C4 in DFHD2D2 with a user abend code of AD2R. I have put on all of
the
IBM recommended maintenance for CICS under z/OS 1.7 to no avail.

Anyone run into anything like this, or does this sound familiar to
anyone?
I have done numerous searches but have not found anything yet that I
have not applied.

I am primarily a z/OS systems programmer so CICS is not my strength.

Any ideas or help are greatly appreciated.

CICS TS 2.2 and z/OS 1.7-

2008-09-04 Thread Kenneth R Barkhau
Hello All-

Without mentioning all of the details that put us in this position, we are
in the process of trying to get CICS TS 2.2 to run under z/OS 1.7 on one
of our LPARS and getting a transaction abend
0C4 in DFHD2D2 with a user abend code of AD2R. I have put on all of the
IBM recommended maintenance for CICS under z/OS 1.7 to no avail.

Anyone run into anything like this, or does this sound familiar to anyone?
I have done numerous searches but have not found anything yet that I
have not applied.

I am primarily a z/OS systems programmer so CICS is not my strength.

Any ideas or help are greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ken Barkhau

Yes,

I have the DDDEF's for SYS1.CEE.SCEELKED allocated. I see the allocation
for this dataset and other SCEE* datasets in the report.

Are you including the language libraries (CEE) in your job? It looks as if

that was the first missed module.

Fw: CICS 3.1 Installation and Web Services for CICS

2008-04-22 Thread Kenneth R Barkhau
Hello -

Would anyone happen to know what FMID is associated with DFHWS2LS? Our
initial install of CICS V3.1 is missing the code
for this (HFS directory entries etc). I am resintalling CICS V3.1 but
would like to try to identify the FMID that I need without having
to reinstall everthing.

Thanks much for anything that could help.

Hello Rick and Hunter,
First of all, thanks much for the information that you have provided. I
am still working through some issues, but I have definitely found out
that I need to find the JAVA programs so that I can execute DFHLS2WS. Once
I get that piece done, some others here can direct

I have located the proc for DFHWS2LS, but when I execute the job that
invokes the proc--

know how to get them, or where, or which ones.

Thanks

By 'perform Web Services from CICS' do you mean that you want CICS to a
host for web services or that you want CICS to connect to other web
services?

The answer to that question should dictate how you proceed. The Web
Services Guide will guide you.

You can contact Hunter Cobb at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Good luck.

 Hello Rick-

Any information that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
From my original post on IBM-MAIN, we are wanting to '*perform WEB
SERVICES from CICS*'. That being said,
from the information below, does that mean that we are really trying to
make CICS be a 'Web Services provider, CICS responds
to program-to-program requests from the web' from below?I am new

to all of this and am trying to get a good feel
for all of this. Thanks in advance for your thoughts coomments.

Do you know how to get in touch with Hunter Cobb identified in the email

 Thanks again.

 Hunter,

I actually got the same impression from his original post.

Ken, Web Services provides program-to-program communications which can
be (but doesn't have to be) cross platform. So an application on Linux
for System z or Windows (for instance) can call a CICS program. A CICS
program, on the other hand, can also call a program running on other
 platforms.

It's certainly not new technology, but it's very cool!

Anyone aware of being able to use DFDSS to COPY Volumes that are OFFLINE?
I have looked but have not found anything yet to indicate that
support exists for doing that.

Thanks much in advance.

Re: IOF QUESTION

2007-10-26 Thread Kenneth R Barkhau
Hello -

From the command line where you have a 'list' of your output jobs, type
in 'S' to select the job that you want to save. Once the next 'screen' is
presented, type in 'SD'
from the command line.Once you have completed the panel to 'allocate'
the dataset, you will be taken back to the output for the job again. Now
type in '1-x SNAP' (where x is
the last file that you want captured in your output dataset.

Hope that this helps
