Re: Varying consoles offline

2005-05-24 Thread Martin Reeday
I think you probably need to run the IEARELCN program to completely remove the
console name from the Sysplex.

Subject: Varying consoles offline

I've got a problem with consoles in my sysplex. We're trying to add a
new LPAR and it's pushed us over the 99 consoles limit. I'd like to
delete some consoles that I don't need but can't seem to get the VARY CN
command to work. My consoles that I want to get rid of look like:
SYSPP0197 COND=SS AUTH=ALL NBUF=N/A
   ROUTCDE=NONE

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Re: Multiple Subchannel Set Usage

2007-12-21 Thread Martin Reeday
Are you on at least z/OS v1.7? If not, subchannel set 1 will not be
recognized which would explain why the aliases cannot be seen.

 Tom,

Can you also check the gen to see if it the alias devices are defined to
the active OS Configuration?

Thanks,

Oops, I did a finger check on the reply. Below I said the aliases were
3390b and I meant 3390a, the base addresses are 3390b.

Re: HCD - IM column

2009-01-05 Thread Martin Reeday
Hi Radoslaw,

I've checked this on our systems (z/OS v1.7 and v1.9), and the IM column
definitely just displays the value for number of LPAR's on the selected
CSS that connect to the device(s). Might be worth checking you're
picking up the correct version of the HCD panels.

Radoslaw,

When you did it from the other machine was it a different device?. I'm
just wondering (I'm not able to check right now) if the count is the
total number of reachable images across ALL machines in the IODF.

Cheers

Re: IOS163A

2007-07-16 Thread Martin Reeday
The HMC will probably also have a hardware message for these errors. The
message will give you an indication of the Unit Address that issued the
problem, but unfortunately the message will not indicate the LCU. Your IBM CE
should beable to find out this information for the message which will pinpoint
your problem device(s).

ALERT, NO ASSOCIATED SUBCHANNEL FOR DEVICE
 IEE302I 3000 ONLINE

The device is 3390B (CU 2105, PAVs available), directly connected through 2
FICON channels.
I can't find anything wrong in IODF definition. RTFM did not clear anything.

The only thing I found is LOCANY set to belowe 16MB (there are many UCBs in the
configuration).

Any clue ?

Re: Renaming an LPAR??

2006-12-13 Thread Martin Reeday
I was under the impression that to rename an LPAR you firstly had to rename the
LPAR to * under one activation and then rename * to the new LPAR name under
another activation.

We're also currently running z/OS V1.4 & V1.7 and have a number of LPARs we'd
like to rename, but we haven't plucked up the courage yet to try it. Good luck.

Subject: Renaming an LPAR??

We are converting everything to z/os.e but running in the roadblock of
needing a POR to change the partition name. I am told that, under z/os
1.7, I can 'rename' a partition presumably via a dynamic change.

Has anyone verified this? Has anyone actually tried it?

I am running a mixture of 1.4 and 1.7. All IODF/IOCDS originate from an
anchor LPAR which is 1.4 with the exploitation code. Anyone see any
issues trying to run a mixture of 1.4 and 1.7 while renaming?

Thanks.
