Redirecting CEEDUMP output in Infoprint Server
We are running z/OS V1.9. From what I’m reading in the Infoprint manuals it looks like this can be done. We mostly use afp to pcl transforms but we also have transforms for afp to ps, and afp to pdf in our /etc/Printsrv/aopxfd.conf file. The Infoprint Server Messages and Diagnosis manual (G544-5747-09 section 2.1.4) shows that CEEDUMPS will be written to your .profile or /etc/profile, the dataset indicated in the STDENV DD statement of the AOPBATCH JCL procedure, or the transform configuration file (aopxfd.conf). The manual also talks about PDF to AFP and PS 2 AFP (neither of which we do currently). We have a file pointed at by STDENV in our AOPSTART proc (which executes AOPBATCH) which contains one record: TZ=CST6CDT 1) I’m wondering if I can just add _CEE_DMPTARG as the next record in the STDENV file that would look like this: _CEE_DMPTARG=/my/dumpdir 2) If the new directory I’m using to hold CEEDUMPs fills up what would happen to Infoprint? Would Infoprint components hang up, completely fail, or what might happen? We would monitor this directory with the FSFULL parm on the mount command but if we don’t react fast enough or too many dumps are produced and the directory fills up what might we expect? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide in this matter. -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@bama.ua.edu with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
Minimum tasks to restart in Infoprint
We're running z/OS v1.7 and Infoprint. Once in a while something creates a bad entry in our DNS for a particular printer which causes the printer to stop printing (because the output is being sent to an unknown host). The bad entry in DNS can be deleted but since Infoprint has already built an entry in its database with this bad host name the printer won't start working until the AOPD daemon is restarted. Our shop IPLs once a week and the IPL cleans up the problem host names in Infoprint because (I believe) daemon AOPD is restarted causing Infoprint to rebuild its print entries in its database. What I'd like to do is to have Infoprint restart each night rather than wait for the weekly IPL. I want to only shut down the minimum number of daemons in order to get Infoprint to refresh. I feel that I only need to stop and restart AOPD for this to happen. Can anyone validate this or are there other daemons I should restart to make this happen? Re: Any way to make printer continue after an error?
I believe that in this case the idea is to print as much as possible and note the problem document in order to fix it later. Meanwhile we have all of the rest of the documents. -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
Any way to make printer continue after an error?
I have a developer asking if there is any way to cause a printer to continue printing after encountering an error such as a missing page segment or a missing font. He says why should that kind of error be a complete show stopper such that any subsequent documents in the same output stream don't print. Has anyone else been asked this and is there any way to make this happen? We are z/OS 1.7 using IP Printway with laser printers (HP 4200, etc). Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you. -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
Converting from Infoprint basic to Infoprint Central
Has anyone gone thru a conversion from Infoprint basic to using Infoprint Central? I have to come up with a plan to do this and I'm looking for any suggestions and/or gotchas anyone has. If you've done this please contact me off list at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks. -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
Question on Infoprint
I have a request to print a document so that it will be oriented 180 degrees from its original orientation. I've looked around and I don't see anything in Infoprint that would let me do this. Does anyone else know if this is possible to do with this product? Is there another forum I should post this question to (if this is not the proper one)?
