Re: SDSF SORT

2009-08-06 Thread Scott Doherty
I agree with " By default, SDSF STatus panel seems to display jobs in
chronological order." or at least I thought... on 1.4 1.7 1.8 & 1.9

We just recently went to Z/os 1.10 and now the ST sort seems to default on
the JOBID. Anyone else seeing this on 1.10.? Searched IBM but saw no hits.

RACF Database 1.8 to 1.10

2009-03-09 Thread Scott Doherty
What are the correct steps to share a 1.8 RACF database with a new 1.10
system during server pac install? Is this correct ? Close ?

(1) Initial IPL of 1.10 system.
(2) Rename serverpac RACF database to new name. ( Pri & Sec )
(3) Catalog 1.8 system in 1.10 master catalog ( same as 1.8 system ).
(4) Run IRRMIN00 from 1.10 to apply 1.10 templates to 1.8 RACF Database. (
Prim & Sec)
(5) Re-Ipl 1.10 system

TIA for any advise.

Re: RACF Database 1.8 to 1.10

2009-03-09 Thread Scott Doherty
Dan,

Yes, we will be going to prod in 1.10 but not sure when.

That is what I have done in the past but sometimes keeping the Databases
in Sync can be a PITA. Since Change control can put off upgrades I thought
it would be much easier to share the current RACF Production Database
since I cannot get a cut over date pinned down.

FTP From Tape With Small Lrecl

2005-10-14 Thread Scott Doherty
We have a file on tape that has a LRECL or 14. When this tape file is FTP'd
it runs VERY slow. If I gener this file to DASD with the exact DCB
information the file is FTP'd very quickly. We FTP from and to tape quite
frequently but have had no problems except with this very small LRECL.

Has anyone else encountered this ?

TIA

Yes, I do not think this applies either, especially since I tested
using "virtual tape" and received the same performance. The blocksize on
this file is 32760, that was also assigned using SDBS. BUFNO and OPTCD also
had no noticable performance increase.

You could created a bat file to change the directory for you
   automatically at signon :

   ftp -i -n -s:c:\myfolder\thisfolder\testftp.txt ???.???.???.???<==FTP IP

   Contents of testftp.txt file :

user
userid
password
cd 'starting mvs directory'

Just a thought...

change profile if Id is also TSO capable.

NJE EE Restart

2006-06-08 Thread Scott Doherty
If you have a NJE connection established via EE and the connection
is terminated for some reason can the sysout being transmitted be
restarted at the point of failure or does it have to restarted
from the beginning. The JES2-L seems to be dead for quite some time
and I could not find anything substantial in the archives or docs so far.

Re: NJE EE Restart

2006-06-08 Thread Scott Doherty
Finally found it in the docs

Once a transmitter has selected a file, it will not interleave it with
other files or voluntarily interrupt the transmission until that file is
completely transmitted. If the line drops or the transmission is otherwise
interrupted, the entire file must be re-transmitted from the beginning.
