JES2 exits and ACF2
Hello list, We just upgraded our production LPAR (no sysplex) to z/os 1.8. We had to create a JES2 exit 52 because we use exit 2. The testing for our code was successful on the test LPAR. Today we discoved what appears to be an issue with the ACF2 exit 52. One home grown application is not functioning anymore. Now we tried to fall back to z/OS 1.4 but get a wait 64. Last Sunday we did fall back to 1.4 on the production LPAR. We can not get ACF2 help today. Has anyone had issues with this situation? I suspect the issue is with the ENVIRON=USER that we had to code in our JES2 exit 52 code. We would appreciate it if anyone has any ideas that you could share today. (Management was aware that IBM does not support this fallback) Regards, Steve -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@bama.ua.edu with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
Console restructure an Netview 3.1
Greetings: We have been planning a z/OS upgrade from 1.4 for some time. First we installed 1.7 in our sandbox/test LPAR and began testing system components and subsystems. Things went well. Then we were told we had to upgrade to z/OS 1.8 from 1.4 by management which is aware that there is no supported fall back in that case. We just started bringing up z/OS 1.8 in our test LPAR. We discovered our Netview version (3.1 - 5655-007) can no longer issue system commands (message CNZ005I). I believe this is due to the console restructure part 2 contained in z/OS 1.8. I discovered some new parameters in the CONSOLxx parmlib member that I thought would save us from upgrading Netview. I added INTIDS(Y) UNKNIDS (Y) to two of our existing operator console definitions. After an IPL the problem did not disappear. Of course management would like to squeak by with the current version of Netview because the mainframes will be decommissioned in (fill in the blank) __ years. Also we would have a challenge to upgrade Netview by our mid November z/OS 1.8 implementation date due to lean staffing in our area. Netview is our main system automation tool and replacing this function with other system exits is also undesirable.Does anyone have any ideas, zaps or other parameters that would allow us the continue using the old Netview? IODF change causes next IPL to hang
Hello List, Are system is a 2096 U03 with three LPARs but no sysplex. Two LPARs are production, one at z/OS 1.4 and a small one at z/OS 1.7. The current IODF is a version 5 level. This weekend I activated a new IODF on the 1.4 system using the HCD dialogs which completed successfully. I did not do an activate on the 1.7 We then IPLed the 1.4 system and it just waited. The NIP console was not activated and there was not a hard wait. I brought up my rescue system and changed the IODF back to the old one and the 1.4 system IPLed ok. The 1.7 system complained about the new UCBs when I did the activate but it kept running. We have done a IODF change before but at that time only the 1.4 LPAR was active. DO I need to do a software IODF change on the 1.7 LPAR before I do the IODF on the 1.4 system. Old CICS
We are currently on z/OS 1.4 and are about ready to test z/OS 1.7. We are now looking at z/OS 1.8 or 1.9 by November. Is anyone running CICS for MVS/ESA 4.1 on any z/OS at 1.7 or above? Due to problems with an aggressive SAP conversion project the CICS retirement has been delayed. -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
Re: Processor Upgrade Question
Frank wrote: Good Morning everyone, in July of this year, I asked a question swapping out our 7060 H75 process and getting a new Z systems processor. Some one at that time gave me a name of the company that they deal with where you can purchase the processor from them plus they will do the upgrade of the software and then ship the system to you. I misplaced the name of the company and the email address. If you know what it is they please let me know. We have also delt with Sirius. We have also gotten bid from MSI. There are several other vendors that provide these kind of services. Re: z/900 to z9 BC migration z/os 1.4 compatibility?
Yes we are z/OS 1.4 running on a 2096 in z/Arch. mode as of June 10. We have maintenance on thru 0612. We came from a 9672 G5 box. (z/OS was supposed to be gone by 9/2008) -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
RE : JES2 Requeue
I suggest doing a ST command in SDSF and include all jobs with PRE. Set the filter to QUEUE EQ OUTPUT and you may find you output. Remember this is not the PRINT queue. We have this problem when the operator place a job on HOLD while it is running (which I have instructed them not to do). This places the output on the OUTPUT queue and it does not got to the PRINT queue untill the job is released and then the job is visable. -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html

I turned 61 this year (same as Gorge W. and William J.). DO I hear 62? -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
