Basic Sysplex and CFRM

2006-09-08 Thread Ed Micucci
Does anyone know if you can use CFRM with a BASIC sysplex?
(as opposed to a Parallel Sysplex)

Thanks.

Basic Sysplex and CFRM

Ed,

I'll state my past experience. If you do not have a coupling facility, you
could not have a CFRM policy. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Jim. That makes sense.

Re: Basic Sysplex and CFRM

2006-09-08 Thread Gee, Norman
I just went over this with IBM support. We converted from a parallel
sysplex to a base sysplex on a processor replacement.

We need to create new sysplex CDS for this conversion. CFRM is only use
if you have a Coupling Facility (CF) engine. There are a few items you
will lose when you don't have a CF engine.

My primary gripe about the Setting up a Sysplex manual is that it wants
everyone to setup a Parallel Sysplex. There is very little information
in it about setting up a base Sysplex.

I recently did likewise - in fact I (currently) no longer have access to
a P/Sysplex. Wonder if the impetus has flagged with IBM pushing z9 so
hard. I did raise this query at the (original) z9 launch here, but Terri
immediately sprang to reject it.

It ain't sexy mate ...
Maybe an old set of the manuals might be an option - we didn't have a
lot of grief though it must be said.

Shane ...
