2006-10-03 Thread Ayon, John
Is anyone running Easytrieve v6.4 Gen0202 on a z9 box (2094-604)? CA's
answer is go to the latest version, but we have time constraints.

Hello,

We are running V6.4 Gen 0202 on a Z9 box and it is working well except for
1 fix we had to apply: QO72665
If you have any more questions Call Diane at CA 630-505-6776 - she is the
one we worked with.

We are running 6.4 ML0202 on a z9-BC with no problems. When we went to
the z9-BC CA said there was no problem. We are on z/OS 1.4.

John, you may need this one depending on your level of z/OS. In my
earlier post I said I am on 1.4. The description of the CA APAR is

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: *0311* ABEND IN COMPILE AFTER OS UPGRADE

And it is for specific situations in the eztrieve code. I am planning
on migrating to z/OS 1.7 and would guess that I will need this APAR at
that time, so, thanks Lucy! :-)

I had talked to CA about QO72665. They wrote back:

The Apar QO72665 fix can only be applied to Gen0303. There is no fix for
EZT+ 6.4 Gen0202. You will need to upgrade your EZTPLS from Gen0202 to
Gen0303, to run error free with EZT+ for the z9 processor.

I'm not sure how we're getting along then, because we definitely have a
z9 and are running 0202. We have a very small mainframe development
staff and even less compiling eztrieve programs. Maybe that's why we
haven't been bitten.
