EMC Microcode Upgrade

2007-08-03 Thread Jim Marshall
Last Sunday we upgrade all our microcode to the latest level in our DMX boxes
to the 5671.65.69 level. EMC assured us it was not bleeding edge and has
been done in many other places with no problems reported.

Since Sunday we have been experience problems with SNAPs and have
reported it as a problem (first one to do so). If anyone is thinking about
upgrading, would postpone it for a while while the smoke clears.

Jim - that assuredly is not bleeding edge. We upgraded to 5771 on 7/13.
There is also a 5772 level out.

When we upgraded to this new DMX-3 our SRDF transfers periodically would
pause with a message unable to determine clone session. Which engineering
recommended we go to the 5771 level of code. After the upgrade we still got
the message periodically so they had us upgrade to the latest version of their
software:
ResourcePak Base for OS/390 and z/OS V5.7.0
SF57008 - SMP/E PTF - 05/09/2007
SRDF Host Component for z/OS Version 5.5.0
SR55004 - SMP/E PTF - 05/09/2007
TimeFinder/Mirror for z/OS Version 5.5.0

ST55002 - SMP/E PTF - 04/13/2007
TimeFinder/Clone Mainframe SNAP Facility for z/OS Version 5.7.0SN57002 -
SMP/E PTF - 05/09/2007

Still is happening. I would bet that will be your next step also, to upgrade
your EMC software levels on the mainframe.

Good luck! Frustrating isn't it?
