Gartner: Stop Outsourcing Now

2005-10-27 Thread Ed Gould

1. Gartner Analyst: Stop Outsourcing Now
Gartner's chief of research for outsourcing says companies have become
compulsive about

outsourcing... and it's creating chaos and hurting business.

Does anyone think outsourcing is _not_ about
punching up financials to inflate executive
compensation packages? Unless the FASB (and
similar bodies in the rest of the G-8) brings
the gravy train to a halt, asking executives
to stop outsourcing is like asking them to
trade in their 7-series Beemers and S-class
Benzes for Corollas and Civics.

Seriously, the article makes a good point.

And just seven months ago, Gartner was spamming to find "fresh meat" for

Re: Gartner: Stop Outsourcing Now

2005-10-28 Thread David Speake
According to an article in Z-Journal by Jon William Toigo, titled
"IT SENSE, Words of Caution" some executives ARE outsourceing a major
portion of their function if not of their fat salaries. He contends they
have outsourced their thinking to the leading vendor of "X" partially
on the old FUD, "No one ever lost their job ". The other part was as
perverse an interpetation of capitalism as can be imagined, which he refutes.

If his father in laws ideas are a correct description of the "way things work"
then capitalism does indeed belong in the dust bin of history. What the inlaw
recommends to him for career purposes would put his integrity one attometer
ahead of the white smocked intellectual whores the cigarette industry used to
parade around on leashes.

On TV shows like CSI, "COD" means "Cause of Death." Hmmm...

"Big Box Mart", the latest song/movie at www.jibjab.com , says it all.
Don't miss the shot of a company's org chart being revised due to
outsourcing.

In the early 1990s Gartner applied a full court press promoting
client-server. A couple of years

later they decreed that companies were needlessly rushing into
client-server. Companies didn't

rush into client-server, they were pushed.
