Hi Neal, If you are going to make the big hop, you might consider installing/using the driving system available on ShopzSeries. I have not used it myself, but I think that there are others here who could advise on that. I found SMP/e 3.5 to be a good and fairly easy CBPDO install. You need to be above 3.1 to run the receive order command anyway. That way you can pull the order directly from the IBM site. Also, I am not sure if the FIXCAT toleration PTF is available for 3.1. Re: HELP! ordering maintenance.
... I need to order maintenance for CICS 2.3. ShopZseries wants an installation report to order a RSU. We are running z/OS 1.4 so the SMP module required is not available. Is there any way to get this maintenance ordered or do I have to download and install a newer SMP/e to do this? ShopzSeries does allow you to order an RSU with out submitting an "installed software report." After you select RSU, choose for "all licensed products." Of course this will likely get you a very large PTF order, but it does not require the installed software report. And as already mentioned, SMP/E V3.5 (the latest release) will run on z/OS 1.4 and installing it should be relatively quick and painless if you choose that direction. Hi Neal, z/OS 1.4 to 1.10 is not a supported hop. I have seen a number of posts on this list on 1.4 to 1.9, but not so much on 1.4 to 1.10. What release of SMPe are you running? SMPe 3.5 (the current release) runs just fine with 1.4, I put it on my 1.4 system last winter using CBPDO. It can co-exist with another level , but once you run the UPGRADE command, that CSI will be committed to 3.5 Running the consolodated inventory report just against your product CSI is not always enough. You might miss requisite service for the OS or other products that way. Creating the consolodated inventory report is pretty easy. I have done a number of them. Contact me off list if you want help with that. I haighly recommend Share www.share.org in Denver later this month, you will find a number of presentations on SMP/e, installs and many other subjects. I thought that there was an option In shopZseries to not use the installation report. You can just somehow find what you are looking for and order from there, if you can find anything on that befuddled system. Why don't you just go to IBMLINK SRD and order from there. Although you will have to know the ptf numbers you want to order - you can get those from the Psp buckets or check on IBMLINK which ptfs you need for 2.3. -Original Message- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:ibm-m...@bama.ua.edu] On Behalf Of Neal Eckhardt Sent: Wednesday, August 05, 2009 4:09 PM To: IBM-MAIN@bama.ua.edu Subject: HELP! ordering maintenance.
