Re: Howards VSAM Problem
Well, I have absolutely no input to any decision making. In the NYC Metro, mainframe jobs are really hard to come by. Some times I really feel trapped...I'de even go for the early 90s "McKown, John" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > -Original Message- > From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ed Gould > Sent: Thursday, July 06, 2006 10:50 PM > To: IBM-MAIN@BAMA.UA.EDU > Subject: Howards VSAM Problem > > > On Jul 6, 2006, at 1:48 PM, Howard Rifkind wrote: > > > > No longer worth while...the box is going to be replace in favor of > > blade servers running linux. Re: Howards VSAM problem
Yes John, but go and try to tell them that. IBM's BC z manchine can be gotten for some where in the $100k area, real damm cheap. And that would put the blades to sleep for a long to come. All their so called applications requiring linux would run fine on the z and then we could take hardware issues out of the picture and be left with junk software. Go figure. No longer worth while...the box is going to be replace in favor of blade servers running linux. I was told that this is the wave of the future. Ed, because the system was poorly maintained for years, starved for money and people, maintained by applications people, systems programmers and the like who didn't know they didn't know and were left to run wild and had no idea of what the term 'best practices' ment...no clue. Howards VSAM problem
Good ideas John, The problem is that on both lpars the master catalogs are the same names and the datasets on the test lpar are in the master catalog. I know I shouldn't ask but what is a USER VSAM dataset doing in a mastercat?
