I'm trying not be HDS only in my reply. Your claim of Nobody in MF market
is a pretty hard pill to swallow - in fact I choked!
Just for the record:
Nobody in MF market have the MFNetDisk features.
The features are:
1. Emulate 3390 with data in PC the same as IBM emulates Shark and the
same as EMC emulates Symmetrix.
[Ron Hawkins]
Hitachi Rapid Exchange. Hitachi Volume Manager (directly to storage - no PC)
2. Mirrors any real 3390 (IBM 3390, EMC 3390 and HDS 3390) with data
in PC.
[Ron Hawkins]
What is that?
3. Backup any real 3390 with data in PC without using MF CPU resources
(CPU, IO etc...).
[Ron Hawkins]
Oh please. Flashcopy. HMBR. Harbor. SRDF. TrueCopy. PPRC. Remember that EMC
support SATA (PC Disk) internal to the DMX, and HDS can virtualise a swag of
rack and stack storage using SATA disks. Was it CopyCross that became
Diligent?
4. De dupe the backup files in PC.
[Ron Hawkins]
I'm interested.
5 Easy DR in no time!!!
[Ron Hawkins]
Instant IPL over the network - without an OS to run on. In no time - get
serious Shai. You have along way to go to get an in not time that equals the
current Remote Copy products.
6. Replace any real 3390 with another without system downtime or the
source
3390 downtime.
[Ron Hawkins]
Hitachi Volume Migrator, TDMF, FDRPAS
7. Sharing 3390 between MF without distant limitation and without
hardware
connection.
[Ron Hawkins]
10 years ago it was called a CNT Ultranet Channel Extender. Theres a bunch
of channel extension kit out there doing FCIP and iFCP.
8 MFNetDisk 3390 disks are a very good candidate to be used as HSM
storage
or even a virtual tape storage with data accessiable anytime by the MF.
