MVS NFS Translation Tables

2011-09-16 Thread Uriel Carrasquilla
Has anybody experienced problems with ASCII to EBCDIC translations from MVS NFS
mount points?
I am getting x'00' in my files that were dropped by Unix clients into the MVS
managed Mount Point.

First, of course, verify that the x'00' was not present in the original. Then
verify that you are using the OEMVS311 translation table:

Title: z/OS V1R12.0 Network File System Guide and Reference
Document Number: SC26-7417-11

2.1.6.7.1 Customizing the translation table

When accessing z/OS UNIX files, you must specify the OEMVS311
translation table ...

I find it ironic that IBM uses the word must in connection with
a configuration option, but does not make it the default.

You might get additional information on the MVS-OE list.

I haven't heard of any complaints from my SAP folks who are the primary user of
NFS on the Mainframe.
