Multiprise 2003-104 Mainframe available free
Fidelity Mutual Life is converting from an IBM mainframe to PCs and expects to complete it within 3-6 months. After that time, we wish to dispose of all our mainframe equipment as described below. 1. Multiprise 2003-104, CMOS processor, memory 512 megs, internal mirrored RAID 162 gigs, 18 parallel channels, OSA2, Internal Battery Feature, SN 45361 2. 1 3480-A22 tape control unit 3. 6 3480-B22 autoloader tape drives, IDRC, 4.5 channel speed 4. 2 3480-B22 single tape drives, IDRC, 4.5 channel speed 5. 4 3174-1L terminal controllers with features 3103, 1014, 3026 6. 1 3174-11L terminal controller with features 3103, 1014, 3026, 9010 7. 1 3745-170 front end controller (not in use) 8. 1 4245-20 2000 LPM printer Everything works fine and is well maintained. I realize it is an obsolete cpu capable of running OS/390 2.10 (which it is now) and is not designed to run z/OS. Is anybody interested? Naturally, we would like a few bucks but we would be happy if someone will take it away free but handle their own shipping at no cost to us. All equipment located in Radnor, PA near Philadelphia. Or can anyone tell me of a recycler or reseller to take it away? Or any thoughts besides using the stuff for boat anchors. AFAIK, the free version of MVS that Hercules afficionados run won't run at all in XA (or later) mode. -jc- -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html

Naturally, we would like a few bucks but we would be happy if someone will take it away free but handle their own shipping at no cost to us. I've seen this sort of stuff on eBay quite a number of times. Sometimes it sells, and sometimes it doesn't, and I haven't figured out any obvious pattern. I would guess that your tape drives are worth more than the rest put together. Certainly SCSI versions of 3480s go for a good buck, but Bus Tag I'm not so sure about. A reseller might take it all off your hands for a fixed price, and that's worth something, even if you could in theory get more selling the parts. But the resellers form a strange industry; you'll find if you start Googling on some of your hardware that there are many resellers claiming to have your stuff in stock, but in fact they are mostly just copying each other's listings, typos and all. And eBay has lots of stuff for sale at what seems like outrageous (if you're a buyer) or excellent (if you're a seller) prices, but I very much doubt that most of the stuff actually goes for what's being asked.
