Hi Ralph, PDSESHARING (EXTENDED) since April 2004 and nothing but good has come of it. PDSE has been very good for us solving performance problems and reducing data management of PDS(s) in our source change management system. Hi Ralph, We have been using PDSESHARING (EXTENDED) FOR 5 YEARS with only 1 minor blip and it was fixed by adding the below statements to IGDSMS00: PDSE_MONITOR(YES,60,30) PDSESHARING(EXTENDED) PDSE_RESTARTABLE_AS(YES) PDSE1_MONITOR(YES) PDSE1_LRUCYCLES(15) PDSE1_LRUTIME(60) PDSE1_HSP_SIZE(0) PDSE1_BMFTIME(3600) One big benefit is multiple users across multiple LPARS can share a pdse for input/output, except if 2 users are manipulating the same MEMBER and one is for update and the need for compress is gone. 1) ro* all,setsms psdesharing(extended) ??? check the syntax and/or the command, I am doing this from memory 2) update IGDSMS00 as appropriate on all systems 3) IIRC, fallback is a sysplex-side IPL. I did this about 6 months ago and have had no issues. You might also want to implement to PDSE RAS address space at the same time.
