No, it's NOT. Definitely.
In many cases RTFM does not solve someone's problem. There are many
(more or less popular) issues, which aren't described or are poorly
described or the description is spread among many manuals.
So, tt is good to have some FAQ. Maybe even IBM documentation will take
advantage of it.

The only problem I see is someone have to maintain it.
Any volunteers ?

How about something like a WIKIPEDIA format - that way everyone can help
keep it updated.

Re: FAQ

2006-11-15 Thread Ken Porowski
The subject of a FAQ from/for IBM-MAIN or common questions has been
posed many times.
Outside of the 'technical' issues of hosting/maintaining it I believe
the bigger issue would be achieving a consensus on the content of an
individual subject. If it could be put together it would probably make
a great book (RedBook?) of best practices, hints and tips, etc.

Dave Alcock has an FAQ for IBM-Main over at _www.planetmvs.com_
(http://www.planetmvs.com) seems like a good place or CBTtape.org so somebody
with
experience could watch over it.
