There are basically two ways to share a RACF database between multiple systems (LPARs) in a sysplex. It doesn't matter whether these LPARs are in the same machine or in different machines. 1. You can share a RACF database the old way using Reserve/Release or GRS. This is called non-data sharing mode. 2. In a parallel sysplex where all members of the sysplex have access to a common CF (coupling facility), you can share a RACF database between all members of the parallel sysplex in data-sharing mode. In this case, RACF is using structures in the CF and the synchronization of the database information is done in the CF. -- Ulrich Boche SVA GmbH, Germany IBM Premier Business Partner -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html

Rosangela, I guess you are brazilian. If you would like to get more information about Sysplex x RACF you can call me. I'm from São Paulo and I have some experiences with RACF in a SYSPLEX. We have 11 Sysplex members and 2 independent RACF DBs. One shared among 8 Sysplex members and another among 3. My phone number is 11- 3274.9087. Maria Inês H. S. Rosangela, I really tried hard to figure out your question but I'm not sure what you want to do: You can share a RACF-Database between any members of a Sysplex regardless where they are located as long all systems have physical access to it Sharing is also permitted between systems NOT in the same sysplex as long all systems have physical access to it. If they do not have physical access (direct ESCON/FICON or switched thru director), you do need RRSF. Please clarify your question Hope that Helps Peter -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
