Google for "Wheeler Scheduler". Yes, I find the long URL lists and the
repetitive OT paragraphs to be frustrating, but I also find that they
provide a wealth of interesting historical data. I hope that they keep
posting for a long time.

When I first saw the person posting I thought it was difficult to
follow. I made a effort in following the posting to go through the
URL's to better understand the person a little better. What I found
was a rich background of information and in the process learned a lot
about "pre-history" of MVS that I had no idea existed. The person
actually wrote the code (albeit on the 360 and maybe on the early MVS
as well) the references are just packed full of information and how/
why things occurred and a little but of what you see today. I do not
follow every URL posted (depending on topic) but a large percentage
of them.

After a while you get used to the way that the person posts and its
up to you (if you are interested) to learn what/why things have been
developed.

I want to thank the person for posting and helping me better
understand the history of MVS and see why it got to be the best IBM
OS that ever existed(IMO). You are always free to make up your own
mind of course but the resource is excellent (IMO) and we should be
happy that the person is contributing (a lot) to IBM-MAIN.

http://www.garlic.com/~lynn/2008b.html#66 How does ATTACH pass address of ECB

http://www.garlic.com/~lynn/2008b.html#69 How does ATTACH pass address of ECB

mentions work on original relational/sql implementation, including
technology transfer to endicott for sql/ds:

also mentioned was scaleup for our cluster/distributed high availability
product:
http://www.garlic.com/~lynn/subtopic.html#hacmp

one of the people in this (ha/cmp) meeting, previously mentioned
http://www.garlic.com/~lynn/95.html#13

says that he handled much of the technology transfer from endicott
(sql/ds) back to STL for DB2.

now two of the other people in that same meeting show up a little later
at a small client/server startup responsible for something called the
commerce server. we were called in to consult because they wanted to do
payment transactions on their server ... and also wanted to use a
technology that had been invented called SSL for the implementation:
http://www.garlic.com/~lynn/subnetwork.html#gateway

that work is now frequently referred to as electronic commerce.
