If you can't find any SMF records of any type with your data set name in it, then the process which is changing the file might be an authorized program using a low-level access method. You can do this and not have any security checking or SMF records written. But I think this possibility is not likely. To really understand what happened to the data set, you will want to use the Type 14, 15, 17 and 18 SMF records. If you have SAS there is a very simple way to code the records and produce a report of who did what to the data set and when it happened. I used to have to do this all the time way back in the old days. Simpler? I have a ps file that is getting changed and I need to find the job doing it.I need to know which smf records I need to pull to get the info. I've looked through the smf record types but it isn't jumping out at me.
