is there anyway to recreate a SMP GLOBAL zone?

2009-02-09 Thread Barkow, Eileen
I did not install this product and i am not sure how this happened, but
somehow the global zone of a new CICS installation disappeared and we
have no backup of whatever

volume it was on. We still have the distlib and target zones. Is there
anyway to recreate a global zone?

   thank list

You can create a new global zone and define your target and distribution
zones in it. Of course, the new global zone won't know where anything was
applied, but that shouldn't cause you any problem. You will have to
re-receive any maintenance that you might need to apply.

Of course the Global Zone wouldn't know where it was APPLY'd that's kept in
the TARGET zone.

As Tom said, create a new GLOBAL and point to the TGT DLIB zones via the
ZONEINDEX.

Besides re-RECEIVEing andy DDDEF's will need to be re-created.

2009-02-09 Thread Barkow, Eileen
thanks Tom and Joe for you response.
we will try creating anew global and pointing to the tgt/dlib zones via
the zoneindex as you say.
hopefully, we still have all of the datasets needed to re-receive the
product.
this is a new installation so we may just have to start over again.

where is the ref doc?
we do not have a global to clone, so this may not be relevant.

This subject came up recently (within the last few months I think).
Search the archives. I think Brian Peterson gave a good answer and
there was some follow up from myself and Kurt Quackenbush.

Normally it's on the 'SMP' pack with the global ZONE. I'd be so afraid of
mismatched modules I'd just start over.
