Re: z10 LSPR
Yup, I'm back. Clark Kidd had been monitoring IBM-Main for me for the last couple of years, but I started back last week. I see that people still head off in bizarre directions (i.e. SHARE handouts), but this is still one of the best forums I know of where people really help out other people. Cheers! Re: z10 LSPR
When I checked the LSPR ratings the day the z10 was announced I noticed that all of the 2094-40x MSU zOS 1.8 ratings were different. I checked the 1.6 ratings and they were what I was expecting. I even checked the documents for the next couple of days to see if IBM had made an error and would correct it. I see today that they did chance the 1.8 LSPR numbers back to what the were for 1.6. Re: z10 LSPR
Bill, What do you mean when running zOS 1.6 shows at 147 MSUs? The MSU ratings provided by IBM are for marketing and pricing reasons only, and don't change once published. The MSU rating for a 2094-406 are 147 MSUs on the 1.6 LSPRs and are also 147 MSUs on the 1.8 LSPRs. Re: z10 LSPR
There was a session at the SHARE Conference in Orlando that went into some detail about LSPR and some changes and what is being measured and why. I am working with the speaker to see what can be uploaded for the proceedings. This was an unplanned session that we were able to squeeze into a slot from a canceled session. All very rushed and not all uploadable. Something useful may, or may not, get uploaded to session 2875 under the MVS SCP Project of the MVS Program. We'll see.) I don't see what your complaint is. The font is a full 4.5 points; Word supports down to 1 point. Isn't it obviously more important to get the whole table on one page than to be able to read it without a microscope? It depends -- if you print the LSPR report from the .PDF the z10 information on page 85 was forced (by IBM) to fit on a single page and they used their new femtofont to make all of the configurations fit.
