I use the z/OS remote system, for me, it gives me everything I need, JES,
mainframe datasets, and USS, TSO, and limited ISPF
for 2.1 and 2.2 the client side worked the same for me.

Subject: z/OS Explorer connections - which to use?
Hi All,
I am re-installing z/OS and CICS Explorer on a new PC today, and there are
three choices for connection to our z/OS system:
z/OS FTP
z/OS Remote System
z/OSMF
I know the limitations of the FTP connection (our FTP does not let us use JES
level 2) and the last time I installed the Explorer software it was on a Win7
machine and I used the Remote System connection that time. It worked pretty
well for the limited functionality I was using at the time.
Since I am re-installing on a new Win10 machine I want to ask what the pros and
cons of RSE vs OSMF are and pick the one that will be best going forward.
If it matters, our z/OS level is V2.1, heading towards V2.2 but not real soon.
TIA for any information or advice you can provide.
Peter
