Re: Devices Statement
At IPL there are no RDEV's built for not accepted devices. In addition to SET DEVICE ACCEPTED it's necessary to issue SET RDEVICE to build the RDEV in order to be able to vary on the device.
Re: FYI APAR HIPER flag change (cross posted)
The definiton of a HIPER APAR has changed from Highly Pervasive. This change was made to be consistent with z/OS due to customer concerns over VM's not being consistent with corporate guidelines. The HIPER designation is now given to an apar that addresses the following type problems: - System or subsystem outages - The inability to recover from failure - Loss of major program function - Recursive failures - Severe performance failures where it's extremely difficult to proceed without a bypass or circumvention and ultimately an APAR fix solution. The RSU content will remain the same. The mechanism zVM is using to include an apar on the RSU is HIPER and PERVASIVE which is in line with the old HIPER definition. This will leave the RSU content unchanged and will not effect RSU distribution dates. APAR's with the HIPER designation are tracked by many zVM users. This new definition enables zVM customers to be informed about serious problem s that may effect their environment. Hope this helps, Jim Sicignano - VM Level2 Support
