As you have discovered, STSI 1.2.2. isn't up to the task, giving you information only about the primary CPU type. For what it's worth, the architects are aware of this. I believe one of the monitor config records (MRSYTCUM?) contains an entry for each active logical CPU. I don't know if unassigned CPUs are accounted for in this fashion. I think you'd look at CP's Configured as the number of CPs and In Physical Partition as the total (CP + IFL) If that's what you're looking for, I should be able to come up with an ESAMON extract as well. The number of IFL's available to the VM LPAR can also be specified in the HMC, is that skewing your numbers? It has 3 IFLs installed but z/VM lpar on the box is only allowed to see 2 of them. This was in my share presentation today. I will have to look into how
standby processor information is provided or should be reported. This
shows the lpars, their processor types, and then it shows the activity
by processor type, so for the 37 active processors on this system, it
should be obvious the utilization.
