Re: Looking for "Knights of VM"

2010-08-08 Thread Bill Munson
Alan,

If you are already a LinkedIn user then you would know what groups are.
No body is asking you to join LinkedIn at all.
If you are not interested in LinkedIn then you should ignore the post and
a comment is not necessary.

You are a member of the Knights of VM so that is the only qualification to
join the Group on LinkedIn if you were interested.

Nothing about this is political or religious so you have nothing to fear.

It was good to see you at SHARE last week.

Do I have to join Linkedin in order to join this group?

Why would I want to join Linkedin?

Why would I want to join this group?

I think this list is just fine for my (z/VM) purposes. What am I missing
here?

I got invited to apply for Mensa once. I couldn't see the point of that,
either.

I'm uncomfortable with joining groups that are not open to (almost) every
one. I can see excluding
trolls and spammers, though.

But maybe there is a good reason?

It's a cabal, Alan. Those who aren't in it will be conspired against by those
who are.

No, seriously, it's a community. Like all communities, it has some requirements
for membership ("interest" being the minimal requirement for any community no
matter how open). In this case, the requirement is having been Knighted.

Do we do anything terribly useful? Not yet. Is it terribly exciting? Not yet.
Is membership required by all Knights of VM? No. So join or not; the goal isn't
to be exclusive, but it's at least a worthwhile experiment. It may well die of
its own inertia, or turn into something wonderful...we'll see.

Your call.

There are so many clowns on this list that I thought the reference must be to

A 'court jouster' is a warrior whereas a 'court jester' is a clown.
