Hi Terry, Not your exact situation, but another data point for you to compare to: we have a z196 running z/VM 6.1 hosting a guest running Red Hat 4.1.2-14 without issue. On the 196 we have access to, we're running Centos 4.4 through 4.8 guests, which is pretty much functionally equivalent, so I think as long as you're not running them in LPARs, you should be fine.
