[IceHorses] Sidepull chinstrap i use ( and Hi to you Robyn!)

2007-04-23 Thread katsimler
I can't figure out how to get these posts to come directly to my e-
mail address. Oh well. I will work on that later.

I use a Lindell because i like the ( for lack of a better word here)
little bit more of a 'bite' the noseband gives. At least for training
purposes. I have also put Latex wrap on the noseband for some
Arabians I had in the past.

I went to Casa Dosa's web sight ( Paso Fino gearas i had one
years ago) and purchased a chin-strap with 2 rings on the bottom. I
also bought the reins that have this cool 'pulley system' so that i
don't have to use 2 sets of reins ( also at Casa Dosa). You can see
on their web sight. But the rein clips attach to the ring on the
Lindell and then also the ring on the chin strap. For me ( and
Fithla) this provides a clearer signal and the difference is pretty
noticable with her, especially when riding with a few people, when
she gets a touch more competitive. This set-up gives me really GREAT
lateral movement, and i can also bring her nose down a touch ( a
touch is all i need,,but this really helps.)

Are ya confused yet? You will be until you look it up, and i bring
it over for you to see/try.

OKI am off to bed for now.

PS Going to Utah May 15th to Bryce Canyon with 10 or so gals. Most
coming from Montana. All Icey's! Yee ha baby this should be a kick
in the pants.

[IceHorses] clipping

2007-04-22 Thread katsimler
Hi...I am new to the group. My name is Kathleen.

I want to make a comment that i have been reading about the importance
of body clipping Icelandics ( from John Parke) and i am absolutely
amazed at the difference this has made in my mare. I bought the Double
KK clippers and she FLIES up the mountain like a mountain eating
machine. (Of course she is in pretty good shape...but i KNOW the
clipping has helped). I live in Longmont Colorado and we have had some
WARM almost hot days along with our typical spring cool ones. But this
is the BEST advice ( clipping) i have followed!

Just wanted to share.
