I found out a few years after buying many Ariats and having them be marginally
uncomfortable, that they are know for being a tad narrow! The Terrain's are the
only Ariats that I have that are truly comfortable and I usually wear
them. They
do have some with mesh over the top, but I thought they looked a
little different
than these...

[IceHorses] Ariat Dumas

I bought a pair of these on ebay a few weeks ago for a real bargain price.
I was disappointed they were very narrow relative to the Ariat's I've had in
the past, so I just put them to one side, thinking they might be too
uncomfortable to ride in. Finally, I was thinking whether to try to resell
them or take them to Goodwill, when I noticed that they are only really
narrow through the instep/top of my mid foot. On a whim, I took a pair of
scissors and cut a one-inch slit across the tongue in this area, and that's
all they needed. I wore them yesterday and this morning and they are great
now. They are on Dover's site for about $99, but I think I paid about 1/3
that on ebay. When it's this hot, I'm all for cutting out all extra body
coverage that I can. Here's what they look like on Dover's:
