You can always use your Yahoo mail account that comes free with your Yahoo 
ID.

You can have your list mail sent there, and just make it a habit to login to 
Yahoo and read your mail there.

It's fairly easy with Yahoo mail to put a line of the quoted text first and 
your response *below* that.  This makes all of our messages consistent and 
easy to read.  Ease of reading is important for the digests, and also 
important for searching the archives.

I noticed that my gmail switches from the plain text to the rich
formatting without me changing it.
