RE: [IceHorses] strangles

Hi Robyn

this is just overkill! Robyn, what kind of homeopathic remedies do
you use? I tried using one from the health food store--the little
pellets. They don't dissolve very quickly and so the horse ended up
spitting most of them out. Very frustrating! Are there homeopathics
in a cream or liquid form that are easier than the pellets?

I'm way behind on email. I do use the pellets and just open the bottom lip
and put in 4 or 5 pellets, I also use the really tiny pellets and they just
stick to the lip until they dissolve. I have also cut out a bit of the core
or a carrot, stuffed some in and covered with carrot and fed them. A
classical homoeopathist will say you shouldn't give food with homeopathy but
I have found it still works and is easier to insure they are getting it.

  I have recently heard
enough that I have asked him to order 8 doses for my 8 horses. I just hope
that I do not make them sick.

Please make sure you know the complete history of your horses and that
they haven't had strangles or been exposed to it (sometimes after
being exposed, they'll get a light case and it won't be noted that it
is strangles) They can get a severe reaction from the shot if they've
had it in the past. We had a horse boarding at a barn and the BO just
decided to vacinate everyone in the barn for Starngles without
mentioning it to the owners. Our Polish Warmblood had had strangles
as a youngster and it was touch and go for awhile. needless to say we
left that barn shortly thereafter.--

Hmm..Santana sure managed to! In they went and pleah pleah out they
