Sheets are great!! I really like Weathabeeta's sheets--they have one
that's really inexpensive (around $50) that has a wide wrap that goes
under the belly and protects most of the belly, as well as a tail
cover to keep bugs from biting around the dock. You can also get it w/
a neck cover, but I've never tried that. I also put a flymask on, one
that has ear covers. I like Cashel's flymasks.
The major problem that I have w/ sheets is that I can't use them when
the horses aren't out grazing, b/c then the rotten pony picks at
Santana's (twh) sheet and rips holes in it, and pulls the flymask off.
If you don't have to deal w/ those problems, then a sheet and mask
should do you well!

[IceHorses] help with bug bites

2007-06-17 Thread Bia
Hi all, I have a problem with one of my horses being very sensitive to the
bites from different insects here... I'm in North carolina. Does anyone have
this problem? My mare is very sensitive and gets welts from just about
anything. I have been giving her a shot every 2 months which does work but I
am wondering if anyone has success with "summer sheets" ? Do they actually
keep biting bugs away or are they just to protect from the sun?...
