BB OS 5 udah bisa kayak gitu blm sih skrg ini ya? Maklum udah 2 thn ga

Dr iphone ganti android sampe skrg. Dah mulai bosen juga ini pake  
Sense UI nya HTC.

dikasih tau caranya tetep bolak balik nanya ga bisa konek, dicek  
ternyata abis ngisi apn, lagsung main teken tombol back aja, mestinya  
kan teken tombol menu dan di save apn settingnya.

Another bad thing is that you don't have a choise which device to get, since there's only one availible, and there won't come more for awhile. But the one that is availible IS great, so this can actually be accepted, unlike the case with Iphone (sorry for mentioning it, but you did also do it!). The User Interface is much nicer than Symbian S60, mostly due the powerful hardware. But the best thing is the openness, which can't be compared to anything else, yes really. The weakness of Maemo is relatively weak support for "phone features", like MMS, but that's it. If you can live with limited communication possibilities (although Maemo still have the best mail experience), then Maemo is undoubtly the way to go, and you can always hope for a MMS feature in the future, because the Maemo community is pretty active and ordly. Another nice thing is that it's independent from major companies like Microsoft and Google. Android is a Linux based OS with a Java layer. The positive thing is that it's widely availible from nearly all manufacturers, but the software isn't mature yet, and that can be seen by the hardware restrictions, or is it a coinsidence that ALL Android phones to date have exactly the same CPU (unfortunately it's a 528MHz Qualcomm with weak graphics) and screen resolution. But this problem can easily be solved in the future, so if you don't need to get a phone now, then you'll get a much better Android catalogue in the future (maybe). The "official" app support here is huge, so you don't have to have some technical skills to run a pocket office on Android, but that's also the reason why it isn't the same quality as Maemo (OpenOffice vs QuickOffice isn't a fair fight, really). Believe me, Google WILL push this platform, but this doesn't mean it's completly positive for the market. The good thing is that you can choose manufacturer, but you MUST choose Google, and this is probably the worst thing with Android. I won't make this to a Microsoft vs Google thread, but when you have a choise, better avoid them all (and then I mean Microsoft, Apple and Google). Monopolies aren't good for the market, and all those companies above have such a behavior. WebOS is, just like Maemo, only avalible by 1 manufacturer, which isn't that good for the buyer, but in this case, it's because Palm didn't allow anyone to use it. However, here you do actually have a (although small) choise between devices - the Pre or the Pixi. As you probably already know, all those systems are based on Linux, but Maemo is the only one that can be called for "being Linux". Palm is a rather small player in the wide world, which means the app support will be small, and it's also pretty controlled by Palm themselves, just like... eh... someone else. Well... I guess the main reason to get a Palm device is because it's different and rather unique, because there isn't anything else that does outstand compared with others. Pixi is a joke hardware wise, so better only consider Pre here, but this fact might actually lower the app quality for this OS, if all greedy developers will make their apps availible even for the weakest hardware. But the Pre itself is good, it's more powerful than ALL current Android phone, and almost as powerful as the N900, only with some slight disadvantages like the lack of virtual memory and lower screen resolution. Hope this could help. By the way, take this with a grain of salt, because even I am aware of my bias toward the N900... but that's because the VERY beautiful performance of the game Bounce Evolution, and of course, the OS itself. Android vs MaemoTuesday, September 15, 2009 by Pavlo Zahozhenko aka buruTechnically, both Maemo and Android run on Linux kernels. However, Maemo is a full Linux distro, based on Debian, while Android is a sole kernel with a few programs on top of it (namely, Dalvik virtual machine and Sqlite database). On Adnroid all applications run within Dalvik virtual machine, which is heavily optimized and modified version of Java virtual machine (JVM). I tried to analyze the benefits of each platform from the perspective of a software developer, as well as platforms' current "strategic position". If you are too busy to read all the details, there is a short summary paragraph at the end of each chapter.Android vs Maemo from developer's perspective Development.Maemo SDK is Linux-only. It's not a problem for me (as Linux is my OS of choice), but it may be a problem for many developers. SDK works best on Debian or Debian-based distros (e.g. Ubuntu). Maemo is also a Debian-based distro, so SDK simply uses Scratchbox cross-compilation toolkit to build for both x86 and ARM architectures. Maemo applications are developed in GTK+ using Hildon application framework. Naturally, the primary language of Maemo application development is C. Other languages can also be used, as GTK+ has bindings for many programming languages, including C++, Java, C#, Ruby etc. However, most applications will be developed in C, mainly due to performance constraints, which are especially actual for mobile devices. GTK+ itself is a bit archaic by today's standards, and although Hildon is specifically targeted for touch-screen interfaces, most of work is still done in GTK+ and good old C. Thus, the development platform is not on par with modern mobile application development environments such as iPhone SDK, Android SDK, or Palm WebOS Mojo SDK. This may change with Maemo 6 release (codenamed "Harmattan") when Qt libraries will be supported and Qt will become Maemo official application development framework. But this will happen somewhere in 2011, so for now Maemo application development is a step behind that of Android.Update: As multiple commenters pointed out, Qt should be already used for Maemo application development. It's a modern way to develop cross-platform apps that will run on both Maemo and Symbian OS (as well as Windows/Mac OS X/Linux, although it may not be practical to use similar UI for both desktop and mobile software). The earlier Qt becomes official application development framework for Maemo and Symbian OS, the better.Android SDK is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. Applications are developed in Java and the development platform is really easy to get into. The only downside is that all applications are in Java, and for some developers Java became the synonym of slowness (although it's not that slow on Android, as Dalvik VM is specifically optimized for running on it). Porting existing applications.In this area, Maemo has a huge advantage over Android, as it's a full Debian based distro. With the help of Scratchbox Cross Compilation Toolkit many open-source tools can be compiled for ARM architecture. A number of command line utilities can be ported with a simple cross-compilation, GUI apps usually require UI rewrite, but anyway it's much easier to port open-source app to Maemo than to write it from scratch. Some of the famous open-source apps are already ported to Maemo: MPlayer, Pidgin, Gnumeric, Abiword and many others. On Android, porting an open-source app from x86 Linux is almost as hard as porting an app from any other platform: all UI and logic has to be rewritten from scratch.Summary: Development is easier on Android platform, while porting existing apps is easier for Maemo platform. Strategic positionBoth platforms are aimed at the same vertical market: smartphones – MIDs – netbooks. Maemo is backed by Nokia alone, while Android is backed by Open Handset Alliance, whose members include Google, Samsung, LG, Motorola, HTC, Acer and others. Nokia may be the largest mobile phone and smartphone manufacturer on the planet, but it cannot compete with such a might. Thus, it's obvious that in the nearest future Android devices will outnumber Maemo devices by a large margin. There should be 18 Android devices released by the end of the year, while there will be only 4 Maemo devices released by that time (Nokia N770, N800, N810, N900). Even if N900 and new Maemo MIDs, and finally netbooks will sell better than their Android counterparts, the total install base of Android devices will grow faster than that of Maemo device

Bro Chippy yg skrg lagi pegang iphone, kataya skrg iphone udah keluar  
ping messenger ya, jadi bisa chat persis kayak bbm. Udah coba blm?  
Kalo udah, apa on terus kayak BB?
sebab dulu jaman pegang iphone 3G (udah jual jd skrg ga bisa nyoba  
ping messenger itu), pake beejive sih udah ada push notificationnya,  
tapi server beejive ke gtalk/ym nya yg sering putus, jadi push  
notificationnya ya ttg server putus itu. Mengganggu sekali jadinya, ga  
bisa on terus spt gtalk nya android yg meskipun jaringan operator kita  
putus, dia otomatis nyambung sendiri. Hi Yahoo utk chat YM di android  
juga lumayan cukup handal juga, udah mirip2 YM nya BB ya.

2. Bisa. Teken aja iconnya sampe ada vibrate nya lalu pindah2 kan iconnya ke
home menu.
Widget juga bisa tambah macam2. Dan di market tinggal ketik widget maka

Kalo di HTC dream kosa kata bisa diedit lagi dibagian setting, text &
locale. Jadi kalo salah ketik dan keburu masuk ke dictionary bisa kita
benerin lagi huruf ejaannya yg bener.

Tapi di Rom hero ini jadi ilang menu utk liat kosa kata.

Ada yg tau ga kira2 masuknya kosa kata ini di directory mana ya ?

Ga beda jauhlah pak, 3.1 inch motorola dgn 3.2 inch di HTC Dream.  
Selisih hanya 2,5 mm dr ujung ke ujung screen.
Krn yg penting resolusi pixel tetep aja 320 x 480.
Malah screen size lbh kecil dot pixel nya lbh kecil juga jadinya  
gambar lbh tajam dan bagus.

Nanti di Android OS 1.6 baru manufacturer bisa bikin macam2 screen  
resolution berdasarkan model handset mrk. Nah ini nanti pasti banyak  
design qwerty handset yg spt blackberry.

Di OS yg skrg ini screen resolution masih kalah dgn BB.

wah gw udah lama ga pake PC. Pakenya mac, tapi kalo di mac address  
book kan ada option utk sync contact dgn gmail. Jadi waktu msh pake  
iphone bisa sync semua contact iphone, mac dan gmail, fieldnya bisa  
sama semua persis.

jadi pas ganti android tinggal masukin email gmail aja di handset  
android dan semua data contact langsung sync semua.

Coba di googling, dulu ada handset yg gw tunggu2, namanya Kogan Agora,  
model keren qwerty spt BB. Itu australian company.

Dulu gw udah ngiler2 liatnya, cuma ternyata batal launching krn ada  
compatibility issue di resolusi screen nya yg ga compatible dgn OS ny  
android.
Jadinya si Mr Kogan Agora (nama konglomerat australia kalo tak salah)  
patah arang dgn google dan dia batalin semua project handset nya,  
pdhal kalo tak salah dia udah pesen banyak dr factory nya, gw rasa  
pasti factory china, mungkin yg bikin ya nexian berry itu hehe,  
soalnya skrg handset china berry ini lagi laku keras, model persis BB  
dan ada pula yg mirip nokia e71.
setiap kali launch laku keras...

Hadoh kacau sekali pln di sono ya.

Mau test pake moxier mail bro. Gmail amplop merah ini mantep push mail nya
cepet, cuma jeleknya cuma bisa utk 1 account dan emailnya 1 judul numpuk
semua, jd sekali delete ke delete semuanya. Dan ga bisa html.

Kalo pake k9 aduh lambat sekali bukanya. Sampe ngantuk sekali bukanya.
Mending pake mail bawaan HTC bisa html dan cepet bukanya, tapi problem nya
ga push mail.

Ada menu email client yg mantep ga ya ?

Luck pake Rom fatal1ty juga ada foot print nya. Dan sampe hari ini gw pake
stabil juga. Ga pernah hang.
Cuma pingin coba Rom cyanogen aja skrg ini.

lebih smooth. Nah di rom ini web nya tidak sebaik si jack, tp kecepatan
trima posisi gps nya better.

Skarang saya lihat si jack sudah sampai versi 1.6, cepat sekali org ini
bikin rom.
Kabarnya rom ini cepat tapi gps not working?

Ada yg sudah coba?

Yg saya males klo ganti rom adalah instal software lagi, walau bisa dibackup
pakai astro, tp one by one lagi kliknya. Trus nyusun setiap kelompok app di
tiap halaman depan. Apa ada aplikasi backup yg bisa restore supaya kita ngga
harus intall lg software dan harus susun app lagi? Soalnga nyoba di app my
backup ngga berhasil klo kota naik ke rom hero.
Tp di rom si haykuro, app yg ada di sd card dia keluarkan otomatis, ngga
perlu install lagi, hanya tinggal kelompokkan di 7 halaman atas.
Trus gimana caranya bisa pertahankan app footprint di rom lain yg tidak
tersedia ya?

Tolong share pengalaman pakai rom2 lain ya. Thanks.

Ya bro, tapi kan ga semua org ngerti caranya dan belajar repotnya.
Dan org gaptek prosentase jauh lbh banyak. Tak heran di dunia pc juga gitu.
Windows dan mac  akhirnya menang dr Linux di sisi end user sebab di Linux
mau konek device lain aja mesti bingung cari2 driver nya.
Harusnya Android sdh pre install Google Mobile Service di dalamnya, jadi end
user udah ga repot2 rooting dan coba2 aneka Rom yang banyak ga stabilnya.

Ohd ga ada layanan Google spt push gmail, gmaps, gtalk, ga bisa sync data
(over the air) contact dan calendar ke gmail server dan yg paling parah ga

Tapi unit singapore juga ga ada tulisan Google nya lho pak AH.
Dulu setelah beli magic tksel yg ga ada GMS nya, aku sempet cari2 magic di
singapore, muter2 funan, sim lim, lucky plaza, semua unit ga ada yang
bertuliskan Google.
Gimana itu ngeceknya ya sebab yg jual kalo ditanya juga ga ngerti dan ga
ramah. Apalagi kalo mau beli brg di lucky plaza wah banyak sekali tukang
tepu nya.

[id-android] Beda ROM Hero


Ini sekedar compare atr ROM Fatal1ty dan JAC1.3

- ROM Fatal1ty lbh stabil, setel lagu semalaman sambil colok charger,  
di pagi hari unit masih on
Yg JAC1.3 pagi2 hang ga mau di on kan tapi lampu indikator nyala.
hal ini mungkin bisa aja kebetulan

- ROM Fatal1ty: Masuk ke message (SMS), bila ada sms masuk, kita bisa  
teken lama lalu dial number nya utk melakukan calling ke pihak yg  
mengirimkan sms
sedangkan di JAC1.3 ga bisa dial up dr sms yg masuk

- ROM Hero kan sdh bisa sync dgn facebook utk foto, jadi foto di  
profile FB bisa masuk ke list contact kita, termasuk profile kita  
sendiri di facebook fotonya akan masuk ke my contact card.
Nah di ROM Fatal1ty ini bila kita mengirimkan sms maka di sms akan  
muncul juga foto kita, demikian juga temen2 yg sdh ada fotonya di list  
contact kita.
Yg JAC1.3 semua foto2 ga nongol di messaging

Yg sdh test JAC1.4 apa sdh ada perbaikan dr bug 1.3 di atas??

ROM magic 512mb itu yang ditempati os nya.
Versi magic 32A ramnya 288mb ini yang kita pake utk software aplikasi.
Semakin banyak aplikasi nya semakin shrinking itu size internal phone memory
yang di info phone storage tsb.

megapixel camera and has 3G capabilities and priced at Rs 29,900.
Bharti Airtel is the exclusive carrier.

Android is a free and customisable OS for mobile phones.

Apart from being a serious rival to Apple’s iPhone, the open source
suite is expected to help in lowering the cost and development of new
mobile applications.

“Following the iPhone launch, which has done commendably well from a
customer point of view, every manufacturer is looking at duplicating
the success. With users looking for a robust OS, Android is an obvious
choice, mainly because of it being an open source platform,” Ernst &
Young Partner (Advisory Services) Manesh Patel told Business Standard,
adding: “Eventually, these would lead to a reduction in cost of
applications on high-end phones and development of the telecom
ecosystem.”

Meanwhile, Google — which is shelling out $10 million for developing
Android — plans to launch 55 handsets with the OS by next year.
However, Nokia (the company with the largest market share in the
country) will continue its dependence on Symbian OS. Even though,
Symbian cannot be termed as fully open source, it permits geeks to
develop the codes to a large extent.

Sampe temen update status fb aja bisa tau. Juga yg mau deket2 ulang tahun

Saya rasa ini mirip dgn sinergy nya. palm pre.
- Di album foto semua foto temen di Facebook nongol. Hebat sekali ini.
- home screennya jadi nambah 7  halaman
- Twitter bawaannya pake peep  juga keren. Layak bersaing dgn twidroid dan
twit2go.

Hanya sayang ada kekurangan sbb:
- dulu di contact g1 ada pentol hijau yg menandakan temen kita lagi on
gtalknya. Jadi dr contact bisa kita click langsung utk komunikasi. Di Rom
hero ini ga ada simbol pentol ijo itu. Jadi yg nyebelin kalo kita buka
contact temen dan mau panggil dia di gtalk, kita mesti keluar dulu utk msk
ke gtalk.
- penambahan kata2 di setting text & locale menghilang. Blm ketemu masuk
dimana ini kata2 yang kita input. Sebab ini sekali diinput pasti bener terus
keyboard nya. Jadi meskipun ga ada keyboard beneran spt g1 sdh

Magic/hero msh lbh gede ram nya.

Tapi yg paling menarik oled screennya yg di claim hemat batere. Dan camera
5mpix nya.

Utk processor android nanti yg paling kenceng sony ericsson experia x3, sdh
pake snapdragon 1ghz.
Camera 8mpix kalo tak salah. Tapi pasti mahal :-(
